My whole family history was of coal miners.
My ancestors from my Father back were all miners.
At one time, in this area you either worked in the mines or in a job that
supported the mines. That fact helped to make this area the machine
shop center that it is. Three large job shops and several Mom & Pop
shops.
The mines have claimed a few of our own.
My Grandfather was Superintendent on a job when his younger brother,
my Great Uncle fell to his death, 300 feet down a mine shaft when a
scaffold gave way.
Sitting here tonight the scanner is picking up transmissions of another
mine accident. It took an hour for them to get the man to the surface.
They called for a helicopter, but bad weather has S.T.A.T and Life Fight
both grounded.
You sit and wait for a phone call that you hope won't come.
You hope that man is not one of your friends or relatives, but wouldn't
for a second hope it to be someone elses.
Cheap energy.... BULL S#*T!
DAMN COAL MINES!!!!
