looks like a decent piece actually. my 9in is about that era. though my ways are free of any rust. actually the majority of my bed still shows scraping marks. my lathe looks plenty crusty but its as accurate as any I've ever used.

what did you say to the guy that he called you a troll?

I inquired about the lathe on behalf of my brother who is an former machinist. He is on permanent disability due to neuropathy and needs a hobby.

I asked if the original rating plate from southbend still attached to the lathe and if the seller knew the specific model & serial numbers.

I asked if the price was negotiable... which we thought reasonable since the seller says they must sell quickly.

I was very surprised by the very rude response.

p.s. your monitor must be better than mine, because I cannot even see the metal of the ways on this lathe or rather thought that the ways should be distinguishable in tone/colour from the rest of the dull greyish brown covering the lathe.

oh yeah those ways are rusty. i was refering to my own that looks about as crusty except for the important bits.

well sounds like the guy isn't too interested in selling....

Hi Luc,

That's more money than is in my brother's budget. I am still considering your lathe for myself, but I am in the process of moving so the idea of having to move the lathe twice in the middle of the winter is very daunting, as is the day long haul to Ottawa. If I am able to move before your lathe is sold we will definitely be speaking again.

Your lathe is far superior to the one this guy is offering...

Personally I think this poster on Kijiji is some scammer because he raised the price by $300 bucks and now I see he has a contradictory ad saying he is looking for a lathe too... whats up with that?

Hi the price is a bit negociable and even if you would come home with
$3000.00 dollars you would not get it (MMMMMMMM maybeRof}Rof})
It's not availlable for another month or soall depending of the snow how fast it's going to melt. The new one is purchace and paid for and waiting in the warehouse for pick up. My shop is 50 feet from my house and all I clean in winter is a small trail to get there. I 'cant bring the other one in and can't take this one out

That Lathe is well worth the additional cost. If I were closer I would be having a look at it now.

You are of course referring to Luc's Craftex CTo89 lathe. Where are you located that it is too far? I will let you know if I see anything decent for sale... I am checking a lot of sites for anything selling within a days drive of Toronto.
