Converting r/c diesel to glow

Could you take a engine like the boll aero 1.8 remove the contra piston and just shorten the cylinder height to get proper compression ratio and and add a glow plug?

Yes. Shoot for about 8:1 compression ratio. You will probably need to modify the head for a head gasket since there is no need for one when a contra piston is installed. Head gaskets made from soft aluminum or copper work well. The bottom end of the glow plug should be about flush with the ceiling of the head cavity.
