Clock makers?

How many on here are clock makers?

I am interested in building a very simple clock if anyone can point me into a good direction for plans.

I have the plans for a small 7 day.....designed as a first clock...made a start of it but I have had the boat and kids this summer....

I'm still tooling up to try clock making but a good start is do a search for
'Rite Time Publishing'
This is John Wildings online bookshop and he has about 30 books on making lots of clocks, repairing them and making tools for them.
He has several clocks he recommends for begginners.

Been interested in clock repairs for years but have not done anything about it yet, was going to buy an old fellow out before I moved to another area, when I got to his house he changed his mind, he says there is not much money in it but he sure wanted a lot for the parts, videos and books, I know that I have a lot to do at this time but still have the urge to try it some day, is getting books, DVD'S and such the way to start, is there a lot of tools needed, looked at some at the flea markets this weekend no running will fetch 200 a little more that I would want to pay, I will watch this post to see where it goes, more hours and more years needed, take care, Lathe Nut

If you have a lathe, mill, drill press and some way of indexing you already have all the expensive tools.
You can go out and spend hundreds and buy off the shelf specialist tools or you can spend a bit of time and make just about everything else yourself.
The only tool you have to buy and can't make is a pivot file but these are only around 35 pounds which isn't too much comapred to the cost of everything else.

I will be posting my tools up here as I make them.

There is a lot of web sites on building clocks and repairing clocks there is one that has got a lot of information on repair it is a very big site. As far as clock making there are some where you can down plan's sorry I don't have any names but there all on my other computer. Cliff.
