Here in Thailand Buddhist temples often cast their own statues on the temple grounds, not in some foundry that has all the latest equipment. Seems you can melt bronze using only charcoal and a fan as shown below in the pics. The bronze metal used to make the statue wont be pure bronze but rather a bronze-gold alloy as many Thais will donate their gold jewelry to be tossed into the molten bronze.
Notice the charcoal in the bags is still in raw "stick" form, and not in pressed into briquette shape.
I dont know what type of casting material they use.
In less then an hour, the thin steel sheet cover had mostly melted.
