I went to install something off a CD, and the light comes on, but doesn't pop up on the screen. I then go to My Computer and Look for it there to open, and its gone. I've tried the Micro soft Fix, but no dice. Then I went in to properties and got into devices some how and found it there, but theres a "yellow !" by the CD driver.

Anyone help me through this? I had just used it 2 days ago to install a WI FI printer, and it worked fine. The only thing I've changed since then was changing the parallel port to EPP for the Mach 3 to run right. I won't think this would have anything to do with the CD driver though????

Matt,

Sometimes, sorry, amend that to lots of times, a computer can just lose it's way and get lost.

If you have already tried to reinstall the rom drivers through the system/hardware/device manager route. Try right clicking the yellow blob and updating the driver, if that has failed. Then uninstal the driver and reboot, that will sometimes get it to be recognised again.

If that didn't work, I would go the mechanical route. Shut off, disconnect the data cable to the rom drive, turn back on and let it finish playing about, then turn off again, reconnect the rom drive and reboot. Most times, that will get the comp to recognise the drive and reinstall the software.

You can try using system restore, just go back a week before it started to not work. I had the same thing happen to me in my laptop, ended up buying a new laptop.

You can update or roll back your driver by right clicking my computer and click manage.
