Very warm, almost right but not quite.

Hi

Are they small clampy things for use on a framing square for repetitive layouts in wood-working? (I've got some that look a lot like those for just that job...)

They are definitely clamps but not for wood working, think clocks.

I'm going to bed now so will give the answer.
I still need to make the feet for them but the picture below will give an idea.

They are movement plate clamps.
You clamp these onto the brass plates of clock movements and it holds the movement off the bench for dismantling and reassembly so you don't damage any of the parts that project out of the movement plates such as the pivots and arbours.
Very basic things but necessary for working on clocks.

I only need to make another 2 or 3 tools and then I can see about repairing the clocks I purchased whilst I was in the UK.

AFter this the next one is the main spring winder, but to make that I need to make a fly cutter to let me cut the ratchet.

Clamps are now finished, just half a dozen more tools to make before I can have a go at clock making.

They look really neat,tm,but how do you make sure they are all at exactly the same height?I'm sure you wouldn't want any distortion in the frame, backplate,or whatever.Keep the tool porn coming, inquiring minds want to know :big:

There is a variation of height of 0.6mm between the three (Hey I'm still learning) but as its just to hold the clock movement off the bench when fitting and removing the pinions and arbors that little variation won't matter.
The way I trimmed out to that close was the ones that were a bit high I just screwed the threaded rod tighter into the feet. If I had been thinking I could of got them closer but I lock tighted up the first one before I finished the next two and of course that is the shortest one. If I had done them all at the same time I could of gotten them closer to the same size.

I'm glad I didn't post my guess.

They looked like leveling jacks for a scale model RV camper
to me. :-X

Nice little accessories tmuir! Thm:
