...Please explain why the X and Y axis hand
wheels on my H&F HM10 (X2) mill, are graduated in .02mm while the Z axis is graduated in .025mm?

When I see "25" in relation to metric, it seems suspiciously close to the 25.4 factor to convert between metric and imperial. Can it be that your 0.025mm is really a 0.001" screw with a dial calibrated for metric?

Cheers,

BW

Hi Bob,

.025 mm equals .00098425197 in. which is very close to .001

have a good day

You blokes might be right - just eyeballing it with a 6" rule, the rack looks to be closer to 8 tpi than any identifiable metric measurement. X and Y axis screws must be metric tho' - hence the 0.02mm grads?
