When i started in the Appretice school in 1962 the first 18 months were spent
criss crossing in all depts making a series of fixed excersises each of which was marked for quality, accuracy etc. Most of these items gradually came together to make tools for our new tool boxes.Height guage, chain link extractor, odd leg calipers etc
Two of the excersises was to make 2 pair of V blocks, individually on the horizontal mill and the shaper. The pair on the shaper were eventally case hardened and surface ground as a pair.I loved those V blocks but as did everything else they dissapeared over the years.I recently almost bought
a pair but instead decided to make a trip down memory lane and make a pair
As an apprentice we made 2 individual ones for training purposes
Now it would be the vertical mill, with 1 long one cut in half for a pair
Not quite according to plan but photos tell the story

Show up fine for me.

Awesome work. Put in round toit file. ;);)
