Hello,
I've been for a little shaper for a while and have just got an Ammco 7 inch one. It wasn't in a very good state but I paid very little for it so I am prepared to work on it. I have stripped it all down to repaint it and clean up the surfaces etc. I was a bit alarmed to see that the bull wheel is Phenolic and wonder if anyone knows the reason for this. I am sure it wasn't cost because a steel gear would have been cheaper I am sure. Is it to protect the machine in case of a jam up? Does anyone know the DP of the wheel? It looks like 16DP , 96 teeth but it is helical cut so reproducing one would be difficult. Any input on these little shapers would be helpful and appreciated , thank you.
