I was having a bit of connectivity trouble here so I called my ISP
Tech Support. The Tech at Comcast correctly identified my modem
as a Motorola Surfboard SB4100.

He suggested it was very much outdated and since I lease the modem
he recommended I take it to the local Comcast office and exchange it
for an upgrade at no cost to me. I did just that and came home with a
sizable white cardboard box. I was surprised by the physical size of
the RCA DMC425 modem inside it.

It has more than doubled my connection speeds.
The videos here certainly run cleaner with it!

If you are leasing equipment from your ISP and it is more than a few
years old, give them a call. Perhaps they also have free upgrades available.

i use a linksys it performs great our isp here comcast tried to rent me on of theres but i dont rent i own. they said theres is better i say no way. but mine is pretty old now so its getting time to buy a new one perhaps on of those superduper modem router high powered electronic gizmo's, thingy do's :big: any who yeeeee you got more speed

I didn't know the modem was the weak link in the system. I am using a Motorola SB5102 and after the ISP sent me a email saying they had increased speed without any increase in price I checked my speed. I now download at 15 meg and upload at 5 meg,
