    What's wrong with my engine.

Frustrated because your well built high precision engine won't run?

    End of an (electrical) era

I found some of the cheap chinese ignitions work by simply putting the contacts / switch between the white signal wire and and the battery negative. Will let you know how these perform. I expect them this coming week

    True Rotary Vane Engine

Interesting description but no account whatsoever taken of the friction/lubrication and wear of the vanes moving in and out of the relative slots. He only considers the friction on the tips of the vanes.

I use the same box for a paint booth. Use the longest gloves you can find. Plenty on amazon or ebay.

Replacing with Brush or Brushless DC motor

The cost of brushless is the only downside I can see. Brushless are slightly more efficient, No need to maintain brushes and comm's, and slightly better control. The controllers for AC and Brushless more complex and more expensive. If I was changing motors and drives on a lathe or mill I would...

Hobby or more....hobby and make money...

There is nothing inherently wrong in making to sell. Especially, if like me, your pleasure is in the making of the model. However there is no profit to be made by the hobbyist in this. For me it would just enable me to finance better tooling or more materials. To make money you need to find...

Is there a program to make a 3D model with measurements that is free?

I needed to make .STL files for printing. I tried 3D CAD and found learning difficult and time consuming. I found Tinkercad much easier to learn.

There is a fungus among us.

Where I live we have a saying. 'All mushrooms are edible - some of them only once' Just make sure you know which ones you are eating.

    Fuel

For those who choose to use Coleman fuel in their engines try Aspen fuel. It's the same as Coleman without the huge price tag. Certainly in UK and EU. I don't know the comparisons in other countries.

Thoughts on cooling a model engine with oil instead of water

The various glycols used are pretty toxic, some more than others so not really suitable unless it is an enclosed system.

    Welder

''So lately welding has reared its ugly head again and have seen advert for laser welders are they as easy to use as the advert shows, has anyone used one, or recommend a system.'' I don't know what adverts you have been looking at, for Laser welding, but they are way out of the price range of...

    Gardner from barstock.

I felt sure I posted this before but it did not show up so here it is again. All the bends were done freehand. The tubing is all hard copper from 4mm to 10 mm. I annealed the tube at the apex of the bend by heating and quenching, bent a few degrees, and repeat - anneal bend anneal bend - until...
