    Craftsman/Atlas speed controls

Thank you for the offer, but I have the original manual for the lathe! Black85vette: I think your idea has showed me the error of my ways! I wasn't understanding what I was seeing. Distance: 3.75in; levers set to E-1; time to travel distance was 15sec. Distance: 3.75in; levers set to E-9...

    Craftsman/Atlas speed controls

Thank you for the replies! I turned some CR and the result was a finish like fine thread. I asked a machinist at work and he said run the spindle fast and the feed slow. That is what lead me to look for a difference in speeds. The result is I get the exact same finish with any speed I select...

    Craftsman/Atlas speed controls

. Hello, 1975 Craftsman/Atlas. I cannot set up to run the carriage feed speed anything different that the spindle speed. I move the selection levers according to the chart, but the speed is always matched to the spindle speed, regardless of the speed I run the spindle. The backgear selection...

    Sliding cylinder

Well... The illustration shows that a large area flat surface is used as the guide/bearing, one for each cylinder. What is the friction loss in hp per cylinder? and is it more efficient that a valve train? Also, as with automatic shotguns that use partial propelling charge to work reload...

    Hard drive case

My storage HD is in the original computer it came in. It is plugged into my lan and it is an HP8360 with 10GB. It just sits there idleing with Win98SE and I store all files on it from my Laptop (which has a 2GB HD). I have thought of putting it in a special drive box, but this is free so far.

Thanx RonM. Plans would be a great help. Also, could you tell me the diameter of the drawbar? Is it 25/64ths?

    Atlas 10" & 12" lathe

I have the Sears Craftsman Commercial 12" and would be very interested in a set of drawings to make a collet chuck for the machine. Also, I have a question about the wiring. It uses a 110/220 Craftsman motor wired for 220v., and a Dayton reversing switch. When going from forward to reverse or...

    Windows Vista

There is a soution to Vista. Go to a 'Mom & Pop' computer store (like Calvin's Computers in Burgaw) and have Windows XP Professional installed for $89 (price here). A large part of his business this Christmas was 'fixing' new computers purchased for Christmas gifts.

Plexiglass body for low temperature engine

Polycarbonate. Known here as 'metal you can see through'. I have bent it in a brake, and drilled and tapped it to make see through guards on the machines here.

I Just HAVE to Share This One!

I troubleshoot and maintain packaging equipment and we code the package of over-the-counter drugs with laser machines. A common problem is that the cardboard dust generated by the burning of the code into the carton tends to build up on the flagging eye and the laser won't fire, hence the call...
