    Bench grinder setups

Thank you, Paul. It is a very impressive equipment! I started collecting metal working equipment and I so far spend $2000 for second hand Chinese mill and lathe etc and thinking I have to spend at least $2000 more for such as a band saw, rotary table, dividing head .... bits. I don't think I can...

    Bench grinder setups

So, if you look at only holes of those cup wheels, you could say those wheels aren't made for regular bench grinders. "only grinds on the narrow face" I guess you really need a cup wheel set up when you start grinding end mills etc., which are probably too detailed for regular bench grinder...

    Bench grinder setups

So, it must be made for regular grinder. Do you grind tools using inside of cup wheels. Are there things can not be done with regular bench grinder while you do regularly with grinders with cup wheels? I am now wondering if I should consider getting a grinder with cup wheels. Someone said that...

    Bench grinder setups

"diamond and white cup wheels" Aren't they smaller diameters than regular bench grinder stones? I guess you probably need grinders with much faster RPM like 5000 - 7000 rpm. If it needs cooling or flushing with liquid while in use, it must be quite expensive equipment.

    Bench grinder setups

Hi Chucketn "is it worth the investment to get another decent grinder or two and permanently set them up as carbide and HHS grinders?" I cannot advice anything about metal working, however, I am a wood turner and have some experience in grinding HSS gouges and scrapers. We had to grind our...

    I found this

Oh, I didn't need to worry about disassembling the mill. I have a trailer and he has got an engine hoist, so the seller is going to help me setting the mill in my garage on next weekend. The mill comes with many end mills and cutter, a $300 worth vise, a set of collets, etc.. and the lathe came...

    I found this

Thank you, Tin Falcon I found manuals, though I didn't print them. The seller has manuals. I found weight of machines. The lathe weighs 88 kg, the mill 270 or 180 kg depending sizes of motor. How could I make the mill into more manageable sizes? I probably can remove motor and remove the column...

    Hercus Model AR lathe

Thank you everybodyI decided not to purchase the Hercus lathe. The seller insists $1500 for the lathe, drill press and band saw without motor. I told him a motor for the band saw will cost $150 or more, so his band saw has hardly any value, however, he still wants $1500 and nbo. I figured he...

    Hercus Model AR lathe

I got a counter offer of $1500 against my original offer of $1200 for the lathe and drill press. He wants me to take the band saw also. I don't need another BS since I have gotten already two. I also have a floor type drill press, however, I am interested in the DP. since the brand has been...

    Hercus Model AR lathe

Hi clivelYa, I saw it, and I thought the lathe was to large for me. There is another one for $1200, however, it is even bigger. I would have bought if the lathe were a little smaller, since I probably would want a mill soon. There was also a Grizzly lathe for $500. I contacted the seller...

    Hercus Model AR lathe

Hello Jack620 Thank you. I posted the same at the Woodworking forum. Since I haven't done any metal working before, I am not sure myself what I should look for in lathe. Wanting something small and affordable I also have been checking the local Craigslist for the last several months. I know...

    Hercus Model AR lathe

I found this ad on the Craigslist:confused:. http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/tls/3920411713.html How much is a Hercus AR lathe worth providing there is nothing missing nor broken? By searching online, I have learned that it was a clone of 9" South Bend lathe and made in Australia. The...

I don't think the seller is trying to make money nor the price he is asking is a hot price. The mini-lathe. com said it was sold for $895. Although I cannot find anybody using one,the lathe seems to be very common in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and in Europe they are sold for 990 Euro, about...

I joined here several minutes ago.:D I am considering getting a small lathe for the first time. I have never done anything on metal lathe nor even touched one before. I saw this ad on the Craigslist, http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/bar/3201676509.html The model he is selling is BV20L-1. I...
