    Kimble engines.

I'm not sure where to put this, so I'll start here. Our club was gifted several smaller stationary engines. When I have more time (and can find them!!), I'll try to post some pic's. One engine in particular is a Kimble. It doesn't have a piston per say, but a flapper that that goes back and...

    Simple, but fun little project.

Don't know what really happened, but I got started building some brass/aluminum tops. The brass "wheel" is about 3" in diameter. This one took me about a month to build. (Too cold in shop, what and where are the materials, what tooling do I need and where is it.) You know how it goes, the...

    Cutting oils

Not sure where else to post this: I ran across some "recipes" for homemade cutting oils/fluids in some older posts here. Some interesting things out there. Anyway, my thoughts are about using raw crude oil for a threading oil. Seems like I heard/read that crude oil was/is a good cutting fluid...

    For Sale Model railroad rail

A friend of mine is downsizing. He had a miniature Railroad at one time, that is all gone. However, he has around 900 feet of small aluminum rail for sale. Never been used as far as I know. Still all bundled up with angle bars and hardware. I am not familiar with such things, so here are the...

    Kimble Engine.

Yesterday, some friends and I were privileged to check out a collection of stationary steam engines an estate wishes to donate to an organization to preserve them and show them off. There are several engines (6-8-10 of them) and a boiler or two(which would never be certified to build steam)...

    RC (Radio Contro) information.

I hope this is an OK place to post this. I am gathering the materials/plans/information to build a RC controled crane/dragline. I'm Ok with the structural parts, but I have zero/zilch information/knowledge regrading RC things. The plans call for motors for boom lift and load lift. I would like...

    How tight??

I have an older Jet Mill/Drill with a #3 Morse taper tool holder set-up. Works very well for me. Only question I have is: How tight should I tighten the the drawbar to hold the toolholder in? I know I need not "reef" on it. but how "loose" can it be? Thank you .

    Cross Twin Engine

Hello, everyone. Sometime ago, I ran across the plans for a "cross twin engine". It has two cylinders, four pistons, and no heads. I found it on line and printed out the plans. The plans came from a book, I know not what book. The plans included a few pictures, but you know how pic's...

    Threading with cutting inserts?

A while back, I acquired a handful of threading inserts for (I assume) some sort of threading machine. Four inserts/cutter for each size. I have only 16, 24, 28, and 32 tpi inserts. It seems I read or saw someplace how to make a holder of some sort for only one insert and then use it in a...

    Atlas MF Mill

I just purchased at a local on-line auction a Atlas MF horizontal mill. Yes, I paid too much!!! But I wanted it!! It is missing the cutter arbor and the little worm gear that drives the table feed. The table feed driveshaft is there, but the worm gear is missing. I have a possible lead for...
