    Alibre 2012

Tin, I downloaded the trial version last week. At the same time I downloaded the .pdf tutorial. It must be from the previous version because the visual format was completely different. There is a tutorial in the current version of Alibri. Click Help. It's all the way at the bottom in the...

    HF portable/miter/vertical bandsaw

Thanks Dave, Even though I have a $179 coupon for the HF 4x6 saw I wanted one with a smaller foot print. My GF loves it for her wooden craft projects. I've already had to clear the drive wheel twice from the saw dust. Next mods are a nipple for the shop vac and a balde guard. Alan

A pair of Liney Halos with video added

Very nice pair of Lineys. That's a great way of getting an engine built for you. Give Olde Dad a set of plans for Christmas. And yes... Please upload a video. Every time I watch one my GF asks if I'm watching porn again. (Engine Porn) ;) Alan

    mini mill gas strut

I'm late for the party again. This is the one I copied for my X2 recently. It doesn't reach into the clouds and leaves room for DROs. The struts came off an old truck tool box and are rated @ 55 lbs each. Alan http://www.rysium.com/projects/189-mini-mill-modifications

    scaling for work

Hey Greg, It looks like we're almost neighbors. That's just it. Everybody asks me what my engines do. I would like to be able to run something with a reasonable load. I see Brian Rupnow is enjoying some success with his donkey winch. Maybe an alternator powered by a three horse power engine...

    scaling for work

Great information. Where do I send my tuition? OK. Let's see if I have my brain around this. At 1/20th scale the model is 1/8000th this size of the original as far as size and cylinder displacement. Does this correlate to the model putting out 1/8000th the amount of torque? Once again, I...

Hiya Clive, Welcome to the best forum for information and encouragement. I am also new to the hobby and I have built three wobblers with great success. All of them Elmer Verburg designs. (#25, #18, #15) Alan

    20% Off Harbor Freight Coupon

To all, Don't worry if you miss the online coupon that Rick points out. Almost every rag I've ever picked up and the Sunday coupon section has the coupon. I must have a dozen of them and use them regularly. Right next to the 20% coupon is a free item with every purchase coupon. I must have...

    New Square

Nice score Dave, I've never thought to check my 4" Lufkin square but have always used it with the utmost confidence. I hope that I can interest my grandson in hobby machining so that my fathers tools can be passed down through the family. Alan

    HF portable/miter/vertical bandsaw

Most of you are familiar with the HF Portable Bandsaw. It is what it is. An inexpensive tool that with judicious use it might just do what it is designed for. It sure beats a hack saw and doesn't rattle everything off the bench like a reciprocating saw. If you are like me (I think most of you...

    scaling for work

I am sure there is no quick and dirty answer to this. OK. We are building scale (to size) models of some very interesting machinery. These creations look great and if built properly will actually run. That's fine and dandy. Let's say that the full size unit puts out "x" amount of work and the...
