Setting lathe tool height using a prism

Hi John I would make a holder for the prism and attach a fine wire (hair) to the front of it, rather than a scribed line on the mirror face. There is a chance the mirror will chip and not leave a sharp line. Another thought is to attach a lens and eyepiece so you can get a nice close up view...

    Corner milling spindle head

The collet on the one I had many moons ago had a fine thread on the rear end of the collet and screwed into the taper and a hex on the front to tighten it up. It took a 1/4" shank. I must say out of the 10 years I used the Deckel I never used that attachment once. There a couple of pic here...

    Cross feed screw jammed

Here is a link to a South Bend manual, looking at page 40 of the manual it shows the two different types of setups. Going by you picture it looks to me like a modified taper turning shaft. http://neme-s.org/Shaper%20Books/South%20Bend/CE3458%20Parts%20Manual.pdf Paul

    Demon Blower

The clearance when they are meshed is around .1mm (.004") it just at that point the clearance opens ups. I don't think getting the backlash better than .4mm will be a issue.

    Demon Blower

I am using Inventor to model the demon V8 blower so I can machine it using Inventor HSM on my CNC, but I have come noticed when I put the rotors into my cad model I notice that there is around .43mm (.017”) clearance between the lobe. I haven’t seen a working version of the blower and was...

    8 station lathe Turret

The homing switch is more of a safeguard so that mach3 and the turrets tool both correspond.Guaranteed one day for some reason they won’t match and bang. I modified an Emco turret design I found online, I changed it so I need a 1mm shim to bring the tipped tools on centre by doing this I...

I can never remember to take photo while I'm machining but I have some of the finished parts I found a picture of an early turret design, a 6 station version which I made 6 yrs ago and is know just sitting on the shelf. I fired up the cylindrical grinder, first time in around 3 yrs since it was...

    8 station lathe Turret

I used a M6 file I found on the mach3 Forum https://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?topic=25198.0 It wouldn't work at first but after a bit of trouble shooting I found the problem was an extra "C" in the deactivate command.

I first started designing my turret in 2009 fast forward to 2016 and I am finally putting the finishing touches to an 8 station turret for my Emco V8 lathe, with the plan of converting it to a CNC . I want to complete the CNC conversion asap so I can start churning out all the little parts...

    Wankel engine models?

I found my single and 1/2 finished water cooled twin rotor wankels. The single did run for a minute until it picked up some crap and scoured the rotor so it was put back in the draw for a few years. I started to put some face seals on the rotor, I may even finish it one day.

    Wankel engine models?

I have the plans for one but it is all in German. I found a link in an old post ( http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/showthread.php?t=6704 ) to a guy who redraw the plans in English but they are in solidworks format. http://tir38.com/archives/73 I will dig out the one's I made and post a...

What do you call these mini boring bars ?

I have quite a few of these bars in various styles that I acquired when I operated a society genovese jig borer. They only markings they had was a number and symbol relating to it size and style. I haven't found a supplier of them but being swiss they won't be cheap.
