    Lockdown Stuart 10

Not bad for a Shropshire lad. And I even like the colour.

    Calliope

Thanks for the comment, ShopShoe. Here are some pictures of the insides of it. You could maybe make your own, especially if you have the June, 1977 issue of Live Steam magazine, which has the plans for this.

That has turned out very well.

I found this a couple of years ago, and have just refurbished it. You can read some of what I did in the YouTube video commentary. It's a nice little thing, and I thought it might interest someone here.

Covid Project First Run: Stuart 10V

I like that, Poppy Ott. I intend to keep on recovering and to proceed as best I can.

    Rudy Kouhoupt Copperhead Steam Roller

Bumping this one up. Still looking for the plans. Even contacted the Craftsmanship Museum in California, who have a lot of Rudy's stuff. No luck there, either. Again, has anyone run across the plans for this?

Covid Project First Run: Stuart 10V

I live in a farming community, and find that farmers in general have a pragmatic view of life and have little use for things that don't produce, as well as a deep disdain for things mechanical, which had better work on demand! Three cases in point: Several years ago my neighbor told me that...

Covid Project First Run: Stuart 10V

I tend to be a lurker on this forum, and I thoroughly enjoy reading of the accomplishments of those talented enough to create such works of art as the models that are featured here. Though I have made a few scratch-built engines in the past, they have been pretty rudimentary, and have not been...

Calculate mandrel size for spring winding

A couple of weeks ago I used "Machinery's Handbook" to help me make a water key spring for my trumpet. Worked perfectly on the first try.

Looking for plans for Cox radial model airplane engine

"Does a Shurline lathe do threading?" The Sherline lathe does do threading with the right attachment, and I think it would work for this.

Very nice, indeed. Do I see in the background the valiant bicycle that gave up its spokes for your project?

We'll get some purple French tail lights and thirty inch fins, oh yeah!

The French horizontal mill with slide valve drawn up by JD Waal in New Zealand

It seems that very small-diameter silver solder is more readily available in the UK than in North America, but shipping costs are very high, especially if you buy from eBay with its Global Shipping Program. The 1/8" silver solder I have (and it is cadmium-free 50% silver, NOT soft solder) is...

    Stuart 10v

I'm also working on a 10V. Andrew, I wouldn't be entirely lost without your 10V videos, but they make my project a lot easier for a self-taught fumbler with no technical training. I'm about 2/3 done now, and, despite my numerous fumbles and recoveries, I think it'll actually run when I'm...

The French horizontal mill with slide valve drawn up by JD Waal in New Zealand

Now, that makes sense! Most of what I want to solder is little stuff (like my Jenny Wren), and somehow it's hard to find any silver solder less than 1/8" in diameter, so just feeding that in is both messy and wasteful. Thanks for the "soldering tip". 😉

    V8 Demon from Downunder

Excellent work. My eyes, though (from looking at the fan belt), tell me that it's running clockwise. Who's right?

Good lookin' push rods, I say!

Bicycle spokes make good push rods; ask anyone who's built a Holt 75 engine.

    So did you finish it?
