Need bezel for old Mitutoyo calipers

If the watch repair places don't work out, M.R. Tool Repair or Long Isalnd Indicator might be able to source one for you. Mitutuyo also has offices, maybe a parts warehouse, in Aurora, IL.

    R.I.P. Dale Detrich

I have a couple of his engine plan sets on CD, along with plenty of pictures to illustrate setups and approaches to machining the parts. I, too, am sad to hear of his passing.

    Deals on Alibre

Why not download and install the free trial? Maybe peruse the Alibre Help first and/or download the manual first. The answer to most of your Alibre questions is "yes", but either of those options would give you specifics. https://www.alibre.com/ https://help.alibre.com/home/en-us/ The 1st...

    Deals on Alibre

For you Unix users looking for CAD, all versions of Onshape, including the free version, run in a browser so they will work with Windows, Mac, or Unix. I do most of my hobby work in Onshape and it works very well for me.

    Hello to you all

Thanks for your thoughts. They are about what you'd expect for the price ($200-300), I think. I use one intermittently with a Tormach mill for a power drawbar and Fog Buster setup, and the drawbar needs enough pressure that the compressor runs at near maximum (120 psig). I find that it is...

    Hello to you all

GrahamJTaylor49 - do you have any thoughts on the current batch of "quiet" compressors coming out of China? In the US a typical unit marketed by a company called California Air and they seem to have specs similar to the Bambi 75/80 you mentioned.

    Shop Vac Question

I use the Oneida Dust Deputy and have been happy with it for the most part. It does a great job of keeping debris from the shop vac but the Dust Deputy itself tends to fall over if you pull the hose far enough to take out the slack. I like ChazzC's approach to that problem and will probably...

    Wise choice or not?

Alibre doesn't have a built-in slicer, which is the program that tells your 3D printer how to lay down the "slices" that will render your model to a a solid form. Export your 3D Alibre model to an STL file and then read that file into the slicer of your choice.

    help with DRO

Looks like DroPros doesn't sell the DRO that the OP bought - if so, they probably won't be of any help to him with the JCS900-3AE.

For Sale Selling my dad's shop - Bridgeport, Linley Jig Borer, Southbend Lathe, Craftsman/Atlas Lathe, Deckel Grinder, Meteor Drill Sharpener

It's much easier to drop the price than it is to raise it and I did notice some accessories in the pictures that were not listed in the descriptions. Your asking prices seem fine to me.

    LibreCAD

You can always export your files in neutral CAD formats, like STEP, but of course that produces a dumb solid with no feature history. Better than nothing, though. At the beginning, Onshape allowed 10 private designs in a free account but people took advantage or it became too unwieldy to...

    LibreCAD

You might want to check out the free version of Onshape, which can apparently import 3DM files. The free version limits you to non-commercial work and public files, but that's not been a problem for my hobby work. It is a problem for some folks, though. It also runs in a browser, which means...

    Lets Talk 6X4 Bandsaws !

Wish I could help more then, but the closest I ever got to one was the manual. Good luck with the fix!

    Lets Talk 6X4 Bandsaws !

I don't know if you need it or not, but Vintage Machinery might have a manual for your saw. I have a PDF of the manual and saw blade instructions for the 4352 horizontal bandsaw if you want it. DM or PM me for a copy.

    Ford 300 Inline Six

FWIW, I've run SC 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 on my Win 7 system with no special problems. I'm about to switch to a new Win 10 system and will try SC 14 on that. One advantage to SC is that you can usually run multiple versions on the same system. A few versions back they started using the same HASP...

    Ford 300 Inline Six

Terry, I found that SC got much more user friendly around version 10 or so and has been getting better since. Or maybe I just learned to think more like they do. Beautiful work on the Ford engine model - very inspirational. Mike

Advice sought re: 3D printer purchase

PrusaSlicer apparently runs under Linux, per the download link here: https://www.prusa3d.com/prusaslicer/ It's free, so why not try it out? It can be customized for other printer brands & models, I think but to my mind there's not much reason for anyone to look beyond Prusa for their 1st...

    Printer Calibration

I have a Prusa I3 Mk3s and have been printing some fairly detailed parts to make R/C vehicles. Some of the parts need to be accurate in certain features, such as the bores needed to seat radial bearings or rods that slide inside of a cylinder. I was having a lot of problems with parts fitting...

    Precision Gauge Blocks

I have a used Mitutuyo gauge block set of unknown quality and an import set and use them just often enough to make them worth their cost. I tend to use gauge pins a lot more often to check sizes of holes that are too small for the usual hole measuring instruments. For larger holes where...
