Plasma cutter is not in my arsenal. It should work, though, as could an OA rosebud.

Depends on the price of scrap I suppose. At ~$0.02/lb for scrap it'll be hard to pay for transportation to the scrap yard ($80 assuming it weighs 4k lbs), if scrappers pay $0.08/lb it gets a little more interesting. Certainly no issue in going after it with an angle grinder and sawzall, but it...

Graphite might work. Not sure of its properties when it comes to being threaded or Loctite? Sure would have low friction!

Ken, The oil-filled bronze would be good for friction, but not sure if loctite will stick? It may be like HDPE or Delrin in that regard? I'm also re-thinking using aluminum for the body. I realized during the night (while I was noodling on oil-filled bronze and loctite) the wear area around...

Oh, one other question. The drawing shows the bushings bored to 6.0 mm and 8.0 mm. It seems there ought to be a little clearance between the shafts and the bushing, especially if oilite is not used as bushing material?

Ken, Thank you. One other question--what would be the effect on operation if the holes were a bit larger diameter? I'm mostly set up for imperial drills, especially my longer drills, although I don't think I have a 2.5" long #39 drill so may need to order a couple specially for this project. Evan
