N.A.M.E.S. 2013 And historic boiler and steam course

I'll be on them road early tomorrow morning from Texas. Seems I'll be spendng some time driving in the rain, but the weather reports I've seen promise nice weather for the show. I'll be setting up in Friday, but am not ticked off about waiting until Saturday to sell stuff. I hope everyone...

    Mach 4 ???

It seems there were a number of folks on this board who went to CF. I was wondering whether anyone went to the Mach4 presentation? If so can you share some details, there seems to be little info available, but as I understand Artsoft was to let the cat out of the bag at CF. Thanks, maury

    Gypsy Engine

It looks like there is a fair amount of interest. I am also interested. You only show 2 castings, is that all there are? It would be nice to have the heads as well. Can you get another run at the foundry? Is this the engine sometimes called the Gypsy Moth? It looks like the crankcase has the...

Model of a Bessemer Hot Tube Oil Field Engine

Chuck, you will have to get the compression ratio about right so it fires at the top of the stroke, too low and it won't fire, too high and it will break your wrists. The burner is a cheap HF burner run off a grill regulator. and for fine tuning, a needle valve. maury

    Anyone inthe Tyler Texes area?

Hi, don't know exactly what you are looking for, but there is Freeman Supply in Fort Worth. They have supplies for making patterns and probably have refactory and other stuff. Try a ceramics supplier they have all the stuff you need for a furnace. There are places in Houston to get crucibles, I...

    Giant scale machining!

..... and this is why we build scale models. BTW, it would be interesting to have one of you out there tackle a scale model of that engine. That engine seems worthy of the challenge. Perhaps a team design/build. How about you CNC folks? See y'all at NAMES. maury Lone Star Engine Works

Home modelling is for the birds!!!

Brian, there is no such thing as a squirrel proof bird feeder. The only thing that can begin to help that problem is a 12 Gage. Even that won't fix the nocturnal pests such as deer and raccoons. Good luck. maury

    Baker Ball hopper Engine

Colin, that is a very nice start on the Monitor. You are doing a great job so far. I'm looking forward to more "how you did it" and and pictures. It's always interesting to see how someone machines an irregular shape part such as a casting, because it is very dependent on the machine/tooling...

    Getting started in cnc

Y'all, I guess I started getting interested in CNC through the back door. I bought a license of Solidworks and BobCam for Solidworsk and an learning the design side first. I am keeping my eye open for options on a mill, and have a question about the bench top size. I have a round column ENCO...

Any interest in a high end casting kit??

Y'all, I absolutely agree with MullerNick about the kind of engine to do. I can say from experience it takes a year of nearly full time work to properly develop a casting kit ready to be marketed. Those who don't spend that time present kits with mistakes and issues giving casting kits a bad...
