What kind of tool steel would you recommend? A2? My thinking on cast iron was based strictly on price. For example 1.5" diameter rods 12" long cost me: 4140: $30 12L14: $30 1018: $25 A2: $57 P20: $62 Cast Iron: $17 Mosey: Looking at those prices, maybe I should just buy a cheap import. :-\

I think black contrasting with the bright metal would look stunning. Maybe a hammered finish paint.

I personally use a hunk of steel that rests on the bed of the machine as a tool bit setter. It works very well and very quickly. I think that this item is a novelty. I like novelties. I might have to make one just or fun sometime.

If the camera has the ability to manually focus, that could be it. I had a camera that would set itself to manual focus, and then I would wonder why the camera wouldn't focus on anything!

The taig is a very nice mill. And as far as tooling is concerned, it comes with an ER headstock, so you just need tooling with a straight shank. I don't own one, but have spent some time using one. The machine is very rigid for its size, and very accurate (for a mill of any size). It's a quality...
