Cheap soft jaws for a 3 jaw chuck

After a couple of hrs in the shed. The hard jaw i removed was fairly soft and drilled/tapped easily so finished the new soft jaw and finished it.Easy Peasy. HOWEVER when i checked the 2 remaining original jaws they were pot hard so i had to have a rethink.I finished the other 2 soft jaws and...

Cirrus V8 rotary valve engine build 2x scale up

I cant remember the exact size but i did turn the 3 inside concentrics to a larger dia as they are not doing anything and i thought it better to leave them heavier for strength. No fixed rules just do what looks/feels right From memory 3/4" seems a bit large. If the big end eccs are 1/2" or so...

Cheap soft jaws for a 3 jaw chuck

The jaws are solid mild steel with the intension of just unbolting them.If tapping is a no no then alternatives will be to grub screw clamp from the sides or even stitch weld as a last reort.Just going out to the shed now to do a little more

    Turning square headed bolts

I agree, but would use a 4 jaw self centering chuck and hot rolled sq stock depending on availabilty and size What is the head size. Keep it simple, these alternative ideas would probably work but take as least as long If a std thread size screw is available can an available and suitable head be...
