Design of a Simple Model Steam engine.

Good information. I have been test running my oscillating engine in my little boat. It lacks power. Probably a combination of problems I'm thinking of re-doing the cylinder to double acting, as well as insulating the boiler and steam line with string and lagging. Tips on increasing power...

What kind of spark plug do I need?

At first glance it appears to be a Philip Duclos design called the odds and ends hit or miss engine from home Shop Machinist magazine. I can’t remember what spark plug he used in that engine. Looks larger than 3/8-24 which is used in many older model engines. You could try a small weed...

Electric Starter System for Model Engines

CNC Mach 3 Parallel port replacement

Maybe this is my problem? I don't have any special parallel port chord, just the regular one for that computer, I think it's for a printer. To drive the Sherline controller I will probably have to buy a UC100 parallel port adapter?

    Newbie From Florida!

If you have some space, even a 1 car garage and a workbench, the best way to build any engine, and learn is with a small lathe. You can often pick them up pretty cheap on Facebook Market place or ebay etc. I started with a Sherline lathe, it's a true lathe although limited in the size of...

Speaking of Rowland MFG company, does anyone know if they still sell plans for the "RMC Scratch built 1930's engine" ? its a blocky looking horizontal four stroke on a flat cast iron plate. Very simple design. There is a YouTube video of it running, with links to the RMC website. ...

CNC Mach 3 Parallel port replacement

I'm totally new with CNC, do you have to purchase Mach3 to get a workable download? Is the free version just a sample screen shot or something that won't actually run the mill?
