    Press Fits

Hi Craig If you would click on the link it will explain a lot. I can measure to the 0.0001” of a 5/8” hole with a snap gauge. My reamed 5/8” hole is 0.6256”. If you look at the second column you will see that a 5/8” reamed hole is allowed to be 0.0007” over sized and still meet the H7...

    Press Fits

Here is a list of fits that Solidworks came up with. s6 shaft size is the maximum recommended for cast iron wheels. Reamers are allowed to produce an oversized hole and still be in limit. Tim

    Press Fits

These are 4-1/8” cast iron wheels on steel axles for 1/8 scale model trains. They don’t transmit power so no key. Tim

    Fibromyalgia and Hobby

Does anyone else on this board have Fibromyalgia? How does it affect your shop time. I can work for 30 minutes and sometimes a hour but then I need to rest for two hours. It is taking me forever to get anything done. I stopped working on the big Mikado and am working on a mid size stationary...

2” Scale Single Cylinder Tangye Build

I am working on the half balls. Luckily the DRO has tool offsets that I was able to set for each tool. I made one without taking into account the thickness of the cutoff tool. But after that they are looking good. Tim

2” Scale Single Cylinder Tangye Build

The bottom is stationary held down by a collar that uses a 00-90 screw to hold it in place. The top moves down and pushes on a 1/32” shaft that is in the middle of the spindle. This operates the valve. The half balls are 3/8” steel that I will be working on next. I purchased a form tool to...

2” Scale Single Cylinder Tangye Build

I made a fixture to stamp out the governor springs out of 0.002” feeler gauge. I need to finish deburring them and make a few more for spares. They are held on with 0-80 screws. I also need to make the special washers that go under the screw head. I have to figure out how to make the half ball...

2” Scale Single Cylinder Tangye Build

I am still making parts for the governor. The next item I will be making are the 3 springs that go between the top and bottom. They are made from 0.002” feeler gauge. I will make a fixture to make them so the hole spacing will be the same between the 3 of them. Tim
