    Definite Blunder

Too many close calls with saws, push sticks are kept on my wide fence. I've done two things for my lathe: 1. Rigged a proximity switch where the chuck key hangs. Lathe won't run if the key isn't in the holder. I use a VFD so it was easy to wire it in the circuit. 2. There is a second stop...

    VFD Wiring

Gordon, the answer is in the lower left of the diagram Thomas posted. What it shows us that all the control functions are powered by the " DCM" lug to the normally open (NO) momentary closed switch (button) to the control lug shown . The top one in the diagram is forward. For the speed pot...

    VFD Wiring

Not all VFD accept an external braking resistor. I'm going to take the Siemens note under advisement as many manuals are written using as few words as possible and take a considerable ammount of back and forth cross referencing. Keep notes in the back. Even though there are no controls on the...

Leveling lathe on uneven floor before a CNC retrofit. Suggestions?

Perhaps you can view this thread without needing to join the group. If you can't, so note and I'll add in the options others have offered. Some options are much more pricy than others . . . https://groups.io/g/Lathe-List/topic/24083126#36912 Ron

Yes "but" terms can morph and lose some of the primary meaning. The intent is for the machine to cut straight. "Straight" has come to equal "level" but is that accurate to the intent? While a precision level is one way to determine if a bed is straight, no droop or rise, and I have one, it isn't...

Leveling lathe on uneven floor before a CNC retrofit. Suggestions?

Just for what it's worth, my brain struggles with out a line break or two . . Point 1. The goal is to not have the lathe bed twisted. Ships are never level, but the bed can still be straight. Point 2. The stand needs to be as stable as possible, then leveled as best can be managed. In your case...
