    Elmer’s #5 Geared Engine . . . maybe

You did a great job with this. My only suggestion would be to replace the slotted screws with model scale hex screws,

    Another Knucklehead Build

I did see another site where golfers put the powder in their club shafts, presumably for more weight at the head.

I did wonder where you get tungsten powder. Tungsten rod cut into short pieces and embedded cross-wise in the flywheel rim might work.

    Another Knucklehead Build

My CAM allows the tool shape to be rotated, and as well only does the finish pass towards the headstock in cases like this, so I can see where in your case it wouldn't work. As for Z0 being within .001, my little CNC lathe would be hard pressed to get anywhere near that.

    Another Knucklehead Build

Once you were turning each end separately, you could have turned the tool so that the edge was parallel to the end face. Then setting Z would mean touching the tool and subtracting the radius of the tip to get z0. Is your CAM error failure to properly consider the offset needed before...

    Astro Skeleton clock.

If I understood the writeup the planisphere cover in Corian was a mockup prior to making the final part in brass. With spray paint it looks pretty good. I was surprised to see the drafting table when you also use Draftsight. Brings back memories.

    Kerzel hit&miss by Mike

The dotted line seems to indicate that it's the width of the shaft before the start of the curved portion.

    Another Knucklehead Build

I had missed this build thread until today and was happy to catch up on another of Terry's builds. As always lots of good machining tips. The "tyranny of the corner" got you like it has me in the past. A good article by Bob Warfield on "plunge milling" showed me that roughing deep profiles by...

    Big table on mini mill?

I bought a similar table some time ago and found the quality unacceptable for any serious work. I'm not sure where mine came from but it was cheap. The Grizzly photo looks as if it is better quality however.

Brass Ball drill & Tap fixture

When I needed to drill balls for my last project's governor I found I could just hold them in the chuck jaws. But as you said, I didn't have to tighten the jaws much at all for drilling and tapping.

Monarch 10EE Lathe & Browne & Sharpe Bridegport Mill

I own a similar-era 10EE; that one is called a "round dial" for the gear setting plate. Mine is a 1942 vintage. You can contact Monarch with the serial number, and they will tell you the manufacture date, purchaser, and what original equipment it was sold with. The lathe probably has a...

    Colibri dynamic sculture

I documented this non-engine build at http://www.modelenginemaker.com/index.php/topic,7609.0.html Plans were acquired from derekhugger.com/colibri, and the first part was made in November, 2017. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHDfKOT-6tE

Are the curves all hand drawn, or done with CAD?

    Fusion 360 learning ?s

Solidworks is quite similar. Sketch on a plane and form a solid or cut from the sketch. Plane can be one of three main planes, a plane surface on a solid, or a new plane defined by relative criteria such as distance and angle.

Proxxon CNC Mill and nccad9 software

As long as g-code can be imported to the control that's the way to go.

Proxxon CNC Mill and nccad9 software

I took a look at the nccad/max website. As far as I can tell nccad is a cam program that works only with imported STL 3D files. 3D machining is probably not what you want for something like nameplates. Does your machine have a separate control program like Mach3?

    from scratch cnc ?s

You generally don't need a lot of computer horsepower to drive a CNC machine, esp. if you go with a separate processor card to drive the timing pulses. My mill was new in 2010, and the motherboard is slow compared to new ones. It used kernel interrupts for the timing pulses in Mach3, and that...
