Squaring off the bottom of a blind hole

Thanks for all the explanations on this post, I picked up some chunks of brassy looking 2 inch bar, about 30 years ago, probably boat prop shaft, it will take front and sides off a parting blade.

This is a steam engine. You can tell the men from the boys by the size of the toys.

Squaring off the bottom of a blind hole

I usually find I have a broken drill the right size in my box of such, a touch on the grinder with just a little cutting edge is all that is needed, also when sinking socket head bolts I usually have one already to size in a box. Keep up the good work. Ted

Opposed twin Onan engine in half scale

I am a member of a model train Club in S E Queensland, Australia, we give kids rides on our model railways, Steam engines are popular but beyond some of us. I have built a Fairmont 6 man Gangers trolley powered by a mower engine. It does real work pulling up to 16 people on our 7 & 1/4 inch track.

    Building a Flat Twin

More pictures of progress on my Onan opposed twin, the timing cover is a bit rough but there is a lot more to machine on it, a friend gave me a Lifan Chinese magnito so need to fit that, it is almost exactly the same as the original Onan one only much smaller, should work fine, it fits inside...

    Building a Flat Twin

I turned the main circles in the lathe then setup a Dremel machine on the Mill and marked out the blades on the rotary table from there on I used various sharp blades by hand. I often glue pieces together with Aquadhere but the resulting ash can affect the finish as noted by Brian above, so the...

    Building a Flat Twin

Hi Ray, the ignition system Brian wrote about above is used in most v6 & some 4s car engines today. But going back into the 1970s Honda motorbikes used the system. Henry Ford had 4 Trembler (Buz) coils on the T Model and never realised he only needed 2, one of his greatest problems was to...

    Building a Flat Twin

That's a good start when everything moves as it should, with a flat twin both pistons reach top (full compression in one and exhaust in the other ) so ignition only needs a twin lead coil fireing every time around with only one magnet or cam on the crankshaft, some COP Car coils run 2 plugs and...
