    Constraints/Dimensions or No Constraints/Dimensions in 3D Modeling

Autocad LT and Alibre. I just recently had to go the other way. Draw a spiral line in alibre, cut and past it into AutoCad to divide it into even segments to do some engine turning on the cnc mill 1 Yes 2 Yes, the other direction 3 Yes

    3D cad design sequence

I too have lost access to Auto CAD and am trying to learn Alibre but the work flow is Greek to me. A simple thing I"m trying to draw is a 4" pipe with 1/4" studs sticking out at right angles, like a pissed of porcupine, to hold tool holders. Are you saying I should draw the pipe and extrude it...

Metal to metal dry lubrication... what product?

The Dry Moly Spray is good stuff. If spraying is too much of a mess, spray some into a small container like the can lid and apply it with a brush. Bob

Building a Mini Iron Melting Furnace

Is there any disadvantage to using a "high temp" furnace like this to melt lower temp metals like aluminum? Melting iron is dream far away but aluminum, maybe. It would seem building a furnace able to melt all metals would be the way to go. Buy once, cry once. Bob

It worked out great. The engine runs. Thanks. Bob

    A new ignition circuit

Ahh, so the spark occurs when the LED goes off if running at speed. Time to fire when the led goes off and disregard the false spark. Thanks. Bob

    A new ignition circuit

I have bult 3 of these but this is the first one I've used with points. No condenser used. The led comes on and it fired when the points close for sure and went out but didn't fire when the points openied when I was trying to set the timing last night. You have to barely turn it to set the...

    3/8-24 spark plug?

Thanks everyone. It looks like a Champion V, VR-1 or Rimfire V have a 3/8-24 thread. I have inquires out now to try and buy one of each. Unforunetly some of these web site are far out of date or the owner mentions they're having health problems. We shall see. Bob

    A new ignition circuit

Is there any way to modify this circuit to fire the plug when the circuit opens if using conventional points? I have an old model made by someone of some skill quite a while ago using contacts on the exhaust valve push rod that used a condenser and coil. Conventional ignition fires when the...

    3/8-24 spark plug?

I need a 3/8”-24 spark plug for a hit & miss model I just got. The existing one is a factory plug but no has marks. The thread size is rarely included in a plug listing so I hope someone can give me some part numbers to look for or better yet a chart somewhere that lists plugs with the thread...

    IPhone and working with metal.

The speakers have magnets. As they collect chips the volume goes down too. I just had to replace my phone as I couldn't hear it anymore and I couldn't get the chips off. Bob

    Forums vs Facebook groups

Forums like this become a encyclopedia of knowledge. I have often searched back to see an old build or technique. As far as I know you can't do that with Facebook. Social media may be good for showing off your latest finished project but are useless for interactively sharing a build or obtaining...

    Casting kit business?

This dam covid is kicking my butt. Glad I started this conversation. What I'm getting here is the patterns may be usable or may need modification before the foundry, if you can find one, can use them. The plans are what they are, usable I'm sure. Rights, well these are nothing but models of old...

    Casting kit business?

Still here. Caught Covid and it's got me down. I haven't contacted the seller at all as I'm looking at these discussions as a feasibility study. What I've got so far centers on the foundry. First, finding one to do the work at all and then doing it at a acceptable price. My terminolgy sucks here...
