    3D cad design sequence

3D CAD and and parametric design as little or nothing to do with where your hands will fit(or not), the design is based on fitting all the modern technology into the smallest space possible and making it easy to build, service considerations though, seem to be a ways down the line from there. As...

    3D cad question

Joko Engineering has a lot of videos on Alibre Atom, the $100 CAD. He seems very experienced at CAD so sometimes it's hard to follow him because he's so fast but he does demonstrate how capable Atom is, here's a video of him doing a cylinder head. He also has a beginner tutorial and Alibre and...

    Teflon in Australia

Didn't notice the age of the post before the one I replied to but totally agree with your comment, that post did look like an ad for his company.

    Teflon in Australia

I'm not a boater or in Australia but Teflon/PTFE is quite soft so I'd guess that a skid for a boat trailer, while it might be called Teflon, is more likely UHMW, it's much more rigid and still pretty slippery.

    Zdenek in the Czech Republic

There are many on the forum that have CNC so even solid models would be useful as long as they are in one of the formats like .step or another widely used format. Even those that don't have CNC could create their own drawings from .step files.

    289/302 Ford V-8 enginee

Probably won't help much but the 409 is the same block as the 348

    Milling Vise Recommendations

That's not so unusual. I spent the extra money to buy a Kennedy toolbox that I wasn't that impressed with, the drawers weren't aligned and the handles were crooked, it was no better than one I could have bought at one of the 'big box' stores. Many companies are selling products just based on...

Almost burned my shop down and didn't even know it

Not sure about the US but you will not find MCBs that are UL/CSA listed in Canada and CE certification is not be accepted.

Injected Diesel 56cc 2 Stroke, Will it ever work?"

I'm going with the idea that she had a better feel for the drill than I, her 'day job' was working in a clerical position while I was in a machine shop.

Injected Diesel 56cc 2 Stroke, Will it ever work?"

It's quite possible though, years ago I had a job that required 0.006 holes, I used a Guhring HSCo drill with a 1mm shank and about 2 mm of 0.006 drill and 1.5mm of flutes and a 17,000 rpm Dumore 16 sensitive drill. That said, we drilled thousands of holes and I could get ~10 holes from a drill...

    DRO recommendation for Mill

Not all glass scales are equal, that said, I bought a 3 axis system off Aliexpress, it works pretty much the same as any of the others and was half the price of a locally purchased Chinese DRO, the trade off is waiting time for delivery. As for reliability/longevity, the first Chinese DRO I have...

    Electric car plant

As with any system, when you consider the total cost, efficiencies get a bit different, oil is cheap only if you assume there will be no significant environmental costs and the costs of rectifying the damage or the destruction of, in the worst estimates, 80 - 90% of humanity. I doubt we will...

    Electric car plant

Towards the end of providing hydrogen, I recall seeing somewhere that there have been significant advances in 'relatively' low temperature autocatalytic H2O dissociation to produce the hydrogen, I don't recall what that relatively low temperature was but any reduction would decrease the amount...

    Electric car plant

Unless you are keeping your cat indoors, NEVER declaw a cat, they would have no defenses if you do. But then if you keep your cat inside, why would you need it declawed?

What kind of taps are you using, M2 tool steels(1.3343) are annealed at approx 885°C (1625°F) and cooled at 72°C (162°F) per hour to 900°F

It's called Alum and it's usually in the canning and spice section of grocery stores. If you have a stainless steel container place the part in a solution of water and alum and heat to boiling, it takes time but the tap will just fall out.

An additional problem is we are also getting into positive feedback loops with arctic permafrost warming that releases huge amounts of methane which is multiples worse than CO2

Calculating Hole Size For Odd Thread Sizes

Feet and tenths was common in surveying when I did it in 1970 though I suppose in Canada it's change to metric.
