My next build--A cross beam vacuum engine

Brian, I will second Jason's theory on the valve timing, when I built my "Stockport" vacuum engine it would not run, I blamed piston fits, flame positions, flame size, but no it was the timing that was stopping the engine from running, I spent more time getting the valve timing right by trial...

Time for a new Horizontal Hit and Miss engine

Brian, your latch will work better if you file a small bevel on the toe of the latch so that it clears the latch stop when the spring pulls it open, similar to the shoot on a lock latch. Mike1

in your opinon, what is the youngest age for someone to use a mamod or similar steam toy?

I had a Mamond stationary engine steam plant, I would be around 8years old at that time, but my dad taught me how to safely use it and look after it. So I would say if your nephew is keen to own such a model show him how to use it and appreciated it . Mike.

    Toyan engines

The TOYAN engine is really good, but unfortunately they don't care what users think and suggest. That's too bad. I also bought an NR200 engine. It looks very good and I expect it to run on my truck. ‎ ‎ From Australia‎ Browser translation. Mike1
