    Take the plug out and see when it sparks, is it before a or after top dead centre Try setting the timing to around 10deg before top did centre as a starting point

    The black wire is the earth so when the contacts close it completes the earth circuit If you put the red wire where the white one is you will just create short the circuit

    The point work like a switch, the earth wire would go through the points, so the earth wire opens and close, when the close it puts power through the ignition and creates the spark for the coil, if the modular is ment for hall effect sensor then it might not work with points

    I also swapped my small CNC lathe over to a Masso touch controller so I could do away with the computer and Mach3 The mill has been running on a Masso controller since around March 2022, very happy with it

    Hi Russ The casting is just a cover over the end of the crank, its not open on the bottom

    Rings done and installed Piston and rod installed, just have to workout the ignition points
