Wanted !/8-56 MTP, 5/32 MTP Tap and die

Well, that sucks! The Tap & Die company had no problems sending via the post and it wasn't very expensive. I've bought tools from RDGtools UK in the past but they don't stock MTP taps or dies. I'm sending an email off to CRTools and see if they can ship to the USA.

Wanted !/8-56 MTP, 5/32 MTP Tap and die

PM Models has MTP taps & dies but only in the sizes they use for their fittings which are bigger than you want. Specifically 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16. The Tap & Die company in England was where I bought my MTP tap & dies several years ago as even with shipping it was so much cheaper. They were...

Vevor 7" tilting milling vice, mine landed.

With my table I used a t-slot cutter to mill out the slots so I could use the same mounting hardware as the mill. That's one of the good things about it. Before I bought the tilt table, for angle work I used the simple arrangement as shown below. While it has some limitations, it's very quick...

Vevor 7" tilting milling vice, mine landed.

While I hate to spend any more time on this angle table than I already did a few years ago, I still will post a bunch of pictures I took at the time to show that I didn't half-ass my attempt to repair the table. It was a fully-assed attempt over several days with not a whole lot to show for it...

Vevor 7" tilting milling vice, mine landed.

I have the bigger version of that thing. About the only thing going for it is the price... Set the table at an angle and then sweep the top. I have to shim mine just to get it within a several thousands. I think the mating surfaces are done with a sander. You can't get the full 45 degrees...

Greenfield GTD Tap Handle No. 5 5B Thread pitch and Diameter of Jaw

There are many, many videos on Youtube demonstrating the single point threading technique and how to grind the tools. Since this is LH threading, you will be moving the saddle away from the chuck which should be easier.

Greenfield GTD Tap Handle No. 5 5B Thread pitch and Diameter of Jaw

The GTD tap handles changed over the years so only you can determine what thread you will need. The chances of an old American tap handle using metric threads is approximately 0.001%. You will need to use the lathe to cut the oddball LH thread. That's why we have expensive toys in our shops...

    Printer problem

LOL, open your eyes! In very snapshot your posted, what does it say at the bottom? o_O Yes, Cura can't set the acceleration faster than the top limit in the firmware (Marlin), but you can certainly set it lower. It's pretty much the default setting of every printer to use lower acc/speed...

    1950 South bend lathe restoration.

Just snug them up. That plate just keeps the saddle from lifting from the bed. Unless the bolts that hold the plate are a real sloppy fit, they won't back out. Yes the book is well worth it. Large print as well, they know the target audience.

    1950 South bend lathe restoration.

Yes, the fibre washer is OEM. Yes, someone lost original. Now you need to wonder what else is missing on your lathe. :) The reason I originally asked is while the fibre washer was cutting-edge technology back when this lathe was designed, there are now much better options: specifically a...

    1950 South bend lathe restoration.

It's certainly nice and clean! Too bad they don't stay that way for long, but if you got new felt it should run well for a long time. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but are you still running the fibre washer beside the take-up nut on the spindle?

Gerry's Beam Engine Imperial Frame Drawings needed

The john-tom site went tits-up back in 2022. Using the Wayback Machine I was able to find the original archive from that site and the Beam Engine plans (PDF) look identical to what Ken posted. Here it is anyway for completeness sake.

    Evaporative PLA Casting

He has an Amazon link in the text as "lightweight PLA" but here it is separated for you for easy clicking. https://www.amazon.com/OVERTURE-Filament-Cardboard-Dimensional-Probability/dp/B0BQRF32YY/?th=1

    Evaporative PLA Casting

This is fascinating! I didn't even know that lightweight PLA existed and most of the reviews mention using it for RC aircraft frames. Nothing about casting. Can you go into further detail? That's just loose sand in a bucket, correct? No tamping green sand around molds or anything like that...

    Shaper as a surface grinder?

For goodness' sake at least post a link! Looks like he using this setup to rescue and clean-up some hardened metal items: a lathe tool holder and some chuck jaws. The chuck jaws are for a weld positioner so the run-out isn't critical, they just need to work. This isn't "tenths" work, which is...

Questions regarding drilling small holes, and runout.

In case you haven't found it yet, the manual for your Cameron is here: https://cameronmicrodrillpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Drill-Press-Instructions-2.pdf For testing, set the belt on the pulleys to the slowest speed. Bypass the speed controller and plug the Cameron directly into an...
