    melting grader slide/wear plates

Wear plates are generally made of aluminum bronze, not brass. Great material for making an anvil, I'd say. But you might check your pouring temperature.

You probably could benefit by joining the BAEM Club. baemclub.com. At least come to one of the meetings.

    Model generator build from scratch

I have non-grain oriented electrical steel available. This is good for generators not for transformers. What I have is 0.014" thick and coated both sides for electrical insulation. I had to get this stuff for a small turbogenerator I am still in the process of building. This type of steel is...

    T-Head Engine Plans

Ved, echo....thanks from me also on posting the drawings. Doesn't look too hard to make and I'll attempt it. Wondering if by chance there is an stl file of the flywheel? Those of us with casting facilities and a 3d printer would find that very useful.

    1" Bore x 1" Stroke Vertical i.c. Engine

I've looked into the gear DP idea too and with what I have available, the easiest way to make the gears is to use 1.0 mod and cut the teeth a little deeper in order to get the tooth clearance. That way, the tooth count and the ctc distance can remain the same. Not ideal but it would work. I...

    1" Bore x 1" Stroke Vertical i.c. Engine

Easier if you have a gear hobber, which I do. Unfortunately I don't have a 24 DP hob. I only have 20, 32, and 64. Wonder if I can change a couple dimensions and still build your engine? I'll have to look into that.

Single Depth of Thread for 26 TPI

I may not understand this project very well but if you have a min of 0.520" and a max of 0.635" why can't you just use a 5/8"-26 tap instead of trying to cut an internal thread on the lathe?

What to charge to thread a rod

It is still hard to determine the answer. Do you have to order and cut the material to length? Is it steel or aluminum, or what? Do you have a self opening die head for your lathe? I can see that job taking around a half hour or 3 hours, depending on various parameters. So anywhere from $25...

    A project that I aim to !

Mike Rehmus says the next issues of Model Engine Builder Magazine (#40 and following) will focus on the Model A Ford engine. This is mentioned in the BAEM Club newsletter, CrankCalls. Awhile back, I saw the start of this motor in casting pattern form at one of the BAEM meetings. I believe it...

Looking for plans for Cox radial model airplane engine

I do not know the thread size but if you find out what it is, try Victornet.com for a tap and die source. They have been my go-to source for strange threads for years.

    Unknown Casting Kit

My guess from looking in the Cole's Catalogue that this is the Cole's casting set for the 1" scale Case Traction Engine. Since Cole's are out of business, it is difficult to say what the set would be worth. If you have the plans as well as the casting set, there is sure to be someone out there...

    3D printed bevel gear

I think you could find what you want at Thingiverse. You could look for a program written in OpenScad as it would be variable in a number of parameters. That way you could get the size, number of teeth, angle, etc. that you need. Thingiverse has a large number of gear files. JerryK

    Thrashing machine

Well, this has gotten off the subject a little, but interesting. I got the plans from George for his hay press a few years ago and scaled them up to 3" from 1". I didn't have any trouble with that and the model came out just fine. I cut all the gears from blanks from Gary Martin. I've had...

    Steam roller

I have a roller like that which I am currently trying to finish. It first appeared in the March issue, 1990, Live Steam magazine, vol 24 and runs for 8 months. It is dimensioned in inches. 1 1/2" scale. It was designed by William M. Harris. Julius copied it and redrew it in metric...

My Week this Week, My workshop videos

I had the same problem with my Lincoln 175 Square Wave machine. And it did turn out to be the hi voltage cap. At the time $60. If you can't find the Miller part, you could try Lincoln. As you say, they are all about the same circuitry. Cheers

    Custom castings

You could write to the University of Northern Iowa and see what they can offer. http://www.uni.edu/chas/academics/metal-casting-center They printed a sand mold for a friend of mine for a rare motorcycle piston and got it cast in iron for him. So if you have a DXF or STL drawing, or some such...
