    Snow Engine

Hi Mark, Great work on the Snow! I recently purchased a Silhouette Cameo machine for the same reason, gasket cutting, decals and stencils. The software that came with it Silhouette Studio V3 will easily import DXF files; this is one of the reasons that I purchased this machine. Are you using a...

    Does anyone recognize PRO-D-SAW?

Hi Gary I have an ACM saw also missing the vise; I just have never taken the time to design one and get it made. I really should do that as there are times when the little saw would come in handy. If you make a vise for yours please post a picture; I would like to see it. Dave

    Piston type Water Pump

Never mind; I went back and re-read the posts and new realize that you were talking about a (boiler type) feed pump. Dave

    Piston type Water Pump

OK I give; what exactly is a piston feed water pump, if it is not like the Goulds pump which uses a piston to pump the water? Dave

    Piston type Water Pump

Maury should have castings for the pump. If you are interested here is a link to some of the work that Maury and I have done on our pumps. I modeled the pump to go along with the Pacific Vapor engine but you should be able to design a gear drive to run it with your Olds...

    Gasket Making

I'm going to find out; I just ordered a Cameo by Silhouette. http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/shop/machines/cameo I understand the you can import DXF files directly into their software. I have some other modeling uses planed for it also. Dave

    Piston trip igniters

That would complicate things; I guess I was thinking of a two point system. Dave

    Piston trip igniters

What if the points were normally closed and the piston opened them? A switch (spark saver) located somewhere on the engines linkage would only allow current to flow just before the points opened; thus saving the battery and coil? Just some thoughts. Dave

    Piston trip igniters

My Pacific engine uses a piston trip ignitor. http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/showthread.php?t=17832 Sadly I haven't finished it yet; but I know that it will run on the ignitor because my buddy built one and it runs real nice! Dave

Brian it's an IC engine. Dave

    Gearless Mechanism--4 stroke i.c. engine

Frank you were correct; what you are referring to is an inertia governor, or what us old engine guys commonly refer to as a pendulum governor. Seems that it was used on some of the better quality engines of the day; like Deutz, Olds and lots of others. Dave

Is 3D printing for all generations?

I'm pretty much like Gail as far as the 3D printers are concerned. I have access to several at work which makes it nice. We design and build a lot of parts on them at work but for home use it is pretty limited; at least for me. When designing a new part for an engine it is nice to be able to...

Mery Engine Piston Rings Won't Seat

Hi Carl I have seen commercially made (or at least sold) that were so far out of round that it would have taken a very long time for them to seal. You have motored the engine enough I would think with careful observation you could see the contact areas. Also a bright light from behind sometimes...

    Mach 3 Z-axis problem

Do you have limit switches; you may need to home the machine first. Also if the soft limits are turned on and not configured correctly it may cause it to only jog in one direction. Dave
