I create my parts in Fusion 360. I draw my parts in inches I need to save the file in Millimeters. If I forget, I just scale the part times 25.4 it will enlarge the part to the correct size.

    5C to R8 adapter

Yes, I wanted the extension also. I think it could have been a little shorter though. It seems pretty solid in my lathe. I will need to give it a try. I can fix this one if needed or just start over with a shorter blank.

    5C to R8 adapter

This is my progress so far. I'm going add a key so the R8 won't spin. Thanks to Blogwitch for getting me started on this. It should work great on my Hardinge Milling Machine.

    5C to R8 adapter

It is a Lathe R8 collet tool holder! I just used this to show the dimensions of the R8 features that are going to be machined in the 5C blank arbor. Bought it on eBay for $27.

Using a CNC Mill as Lathe

77 It should work the same, just ZX instead of YX. The tricky part is getting it mirrored in the right direction. I had to do a XY mirror of my program!!

    5C to R8 adapter

I did a search & found this post today. I would like to make a 5C to R8 adapter, like the one you show here. I just bought a Hardinge Horizontal Milling Machine. It has a 5C spindle, I want to be able to use my R8 shell cutter arbors that are already setup to use in my Bridgeport Milling...

Using a CNC Mill as Lathe

I played around with using my CNC Mill as a Lathe. I mounted a right angle head on my vertical mill. Put my toolholder in the vise. After doing a X Y mirror of my program (the part moves, not the toolbit!) I machined a few sample test parts. https://photos.app.goo.gl/vXQg1GtRLXt5hFiX7...

Both of the whistles start to work at about 40psi. The sound is maxed out at about 100psi. I hope they work on steam!

I tried my luck at 3D printing a 5 chime locomotive steam whistle. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uM771DPD5F6f2H266 It takes a lot of air for this one!

    1/3 Scale Case Steam engine

I hated the Steam Whistle on my 1/3rd scale Case. So I found a set of plans for this triple chime whistle on eBay, scaled it down 50% to 1 1/2".
