    Veterans Day NOV 11

My Grand-daughter extended an invitation to me to attend the Veterans day event at her high school today. I assumed it was basically going to be aq concert by their choral class and the string symphony group. When I arrived, I was escorted to the library where my name, service affiliation, date...

Not exactly model engineering.... but I've been busy

After dealing with all the recent health issues and getting most things under control, I just couldn't seem to get my head back into the Tandem Compound project. I finally decided to set it aside for a while, at least until I can backtrack and pick up on where things were going when I left off...

How to make curved flywheel spokes

Rolland You're welcome, but Philip Duclos did all the heavy lifting in the Book from Village Press, titled "The Shop wisdom of Philip Duclos". One of the best $45.00 I've ever spent. Once I mastered his basic intructions, making different curves and more spokes were no big trick. Best Steve

Urgent advice re site safety of HMEM

The problem has been fixed on the forum end of things but Google is dragging their feet on doing a review, in order to remove their warning banner. Kevin spent quite a few hours chasing down the problem and assures us he's gotten the forum back in order. Steve

    Why a forum on disabilities?

Bogs I've watched you adapt to each new insult, not always gracefully, but with raw determination to overcome the obstacles. No hero worship in saying that you've managed admirably. I've had to battle a few small health things this year, none of which have been debilitating, but they sure took a...

    October Project of the Month

Bogs... You and I've discussed this before and we are both on the same page with the basics of your comments. The thing is being actively discussed and I'm definitely an advocate for seeing that the struggling newbie gets a shot at some of the recognition, right along with the talented old guys...

firefox is red flaging this site

Goofy I just logged in on firefox and got nothing out of the ordinary. The site loaded fine here. Not sure why yours gave the warning, but I'll bet Kevin does a bit of looking around when he gets home. Steve

    Our oldest forum members?

Andy rest assured, we're taking all precautions not to remove anyone who is actively posting and even bending backwards to make sure "active" lurkers are not caught up in the net. Lurking is still an honored institution on online forums, even if we'd prefer everyone post sometime. Some just...

    Our oldest forum members?

Phil I can explain the reason for the discrepancy... even if I cant tell you why the board system doesn't pick it up and self correct. The moderators were recently granted permission to delete/ ban users, in order to give the admins a bit of a breather because of the large number of spammers...

Forum acting strange, or it's me.

Running AV and Spyware scans but nothing popping up here. Behind a physical and software firewalls and nothing jingled.... so far. Firewall log does show one attempted access at 7:00 pm which was about when I went active on the site, but it does not appear to be our boy's work. Not all that...

Cuda... We're getting a right nice collection of locals on the board. Perhaps we need to schedule a meet and try to get us all in one place to get to know one another. I've met several of the guys and all are top notch. We've got em in Easley, Clemson and Westminister as well as here in...

    October Project of the Month

NickG... It's never been a very "structured" thing. You work at the top of your game or higher and the rest of us see you doing so. Bling is nice, but it doesn't mean a "win". Note the " " around the word win. Since the thing was never meant to be a competition, but an honor given by peers, win...

    October Project of the Month

Nick It's still the project of the month, however the selection process has now defaulted to Rick, in order to keep the squabble factor from rearing its ugly head. I too hated to see the voting process die, but the thing was beginning to be a source of friction and nit picking. Everyone still...

Tandem Compound Poppet Valve Steam Engine Build, ala Cedge

O.H.... Thanks for the kind words. Sadly making drawings is not among my talents. I tend to prescribe to Bogstandard's Crap O' Cad school of design. Scraps of paper with a quick sketch and no real organization. littlemachinmeshop.com did have drawings for a 10 cylinder elbow, but I've not looked...
