    Sandblaster!!!

L98fiero---I already have a sandblast gun that I bought a few years ago and plan on using it. Today I ran my sandblaster budget up to just under $100----$60 for the sandblaster cabinet, $27 for a new pair of sandblaster gloves from Princess Auto and $7 for a pair of brass fittings from "Bolts...

    Sandblaster!!!

Yesterday I fabricated the six "stand offs" that weld to the back of the support frame and bolted it to the wall---the stand offs were necessary because the sandblaster covers up my 120 volt outlet on the wall, and I need space to run an extension cord out from behind the sandblaster to a power...

    Sandblaster!!!

Stan--I know that . A good percentage of the Rupnow fortune gets spent at Canadian Tire and Princess Auto every year. Now for my next question---And remember, I'm doing this "On the cheap". The view port that lets me look into the sandblaster is some cheap Polycarbonate, and as can be expected...

    Sandblaster!!!

Green twin---your system needs a dewatering manifold. That is simply four 3/4" o.d. steel waterpipes about four foot long with a thread on both ends of the pipes. arranged vertically against a wall. The tops of the pipes are connected with two elbows and a short coupler The bottoms are connected...

    Sandblaster!!!

I worked all day, and my body is telling me about it---But---I have a welded frame under the sandblaster. I collect bedframe angles. One thing about driving a half ton, you can stop and pick these things up that people have put out for garbage collection. God, I love these things. The welded...

    Sandblaster!!!

I have found that this blast cabinet originally came from Harbour Freight in USA and was SKU 45411. It appears that I can still buy replacement parts from them if I have to.

    Sandblaster!!!

The view window on the one I bought is pretty opaque from years of use, and it is made from clear acrilique material. I worked all day today on a proper stand for this one, and it won't be finished until tomorrow.

    Sandblaster!!!

It has a rubber gasket that you have to finagle into place. The gasket is there with it but I think I will have to buy a new one, as the old gasket is trashed.

    Sandblaster!!!

Two weeks ago I bought a sandblasting cabinet plus hoses from an add in marketplace. I bought it based on an add and a photograph from a city about 200 miles away for $60. I called the man and he said that he had to come to Barrie today on other business. He just arrived with the sandblaster and...

    Powder paint for model engines

I did not get any instruction manual with the toaster oven I bought. To properly cure powder paint, an object placed inside the oven must be heated to 400 degrees f and then held at that temperature for 15 minutes. My toaster oven gets up to the 400 degrees okay, but then it shuts off. I can't...

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

Today, a random thought. Both intake and exhaust valves have a specific time that they should begin to open in an engine's cycle. Both intake and exhaust valves have a specific time that they should begin to close in an engine's cycle. You can adjust the time when both intake and exhaust valves...

    Powder paint for model engines

Gordon--To a large degree I am overthinking it. I haven't felt like doing much machining since I had my knee replaced in May.--and that is very unusual for me. I have almost worked my way thru this whole powder paint thing, and then I really hope that I soon feel like getting back into the...

    Powder paint for model engines

We are progressing!!! The toaster oven does indeed go up to 400 degrees F . It takes it a while to get up that high, but it does go. Next trick will be if I can get the toaster oven to shut off and then automatically turn back on to maintain that temperature for a pre-set amount of time.

    Powder paint for model engines

Okay--I'm figuring things out as I go along here. The i.r. temperature gun that I have doesn't work when it is looking thru the glass door at an object that is in the oven. I'm getting wildly different temperature readings depending on whether the glass door is open or shut. So, for my next...

    Powder paint for model engines

Hmmmm--I may have to educate myself on toaster ovens. Hottest temp I have been able to achieve is 350F according to my i.r. temperature gun, and it has to be 400F to cure powder paint. More research required---

    Powder paint for model engines

Progress has been slow. In fact, progress has been non existent!!! Wife and I are still recovering from the chest cold from Hell.---But---I knew that I was going to have to be able to measure, in real time, what temperature my toaster oven reached before I started to actually cure powder paint...
