    Piston material choice.

Now the graphite piston sounds clever to me. Definitely something that i would like to try, do you buy this as stock from a supplier, or can you salvage it from something redundant.

    Piston material choice.

Thanks everybody for your advice and experience shared here. I have decided to make the piston out of good old cast iron. I have a nice piece of fine grain cast iron round bar that i will use. At a bore of 12.7 mm i will not attempt proper rings or even a o'ring. I will just machine a few oil...

    Piston material choice.

Hi to you all. I'm in the very final stages of my Elmer Verburg no 29 engine. I need to machine the piston. I made the cylinder out of brass. I was thinking in the direction of making the piston out of cast iron. Not sure if this is a good combination, i must add that i doubt i will ever run it...

    Miniature beam engine.

Hi Julius, it would be greatly appreciated if you could do a drawing on this engine. Scaled up by 2 is perfect, these things do get fiddly when so small. Kind regards Johan

    Miniature beam engine.

Hi guys and girls, i recently saw a tiny little beam engine on youtube. It is made by Microcosm. My question is, does anyone have a drawing of this engine, it looks fairly simple, except the valving, I'm not exactly sure how that is done. Would any one have a drawing, even a rough sketch of this...

    Miniature beam engine.

Hi guys and girls, i saw a miniature beam engine on youtube. It is a Microcosm M88 mini beam steam engine. These are for sale from Banggood etc, but it looks like a very simple engine to build. Obviously one needs a drawing, which i suspect was in anycase used from somebody without permission, I...

    1" Bore x 1" Stroke Vertical i.c. Engine

I'm following Brian, I'm nearing the dreaded ring making process, and it seems daunting. Must admit i learned a lot already.

    Mark's Bernay Engine

Same from me, very well done, i like the weathering part of the flywheel. Looks neat. Can't wait to see it running

    Elmer’s “Scotty” # 8

Lovely little engine, here is mine. About my second engine built at the time. Enjoy it, i'm busy now with no 29 for a long time, quite a challenge.

Bob Shores Little Angel cylinder position.

My apologies, this should have been in the "general engine discussions"

Bob Shores Little Angel cylinder position.

Hi fellow model engineers, busy building a Bob Shores Little Angel engine after i shelved it for a couple of years as my skills were not up to it yet. So i'm giving it a go now again. Have the frame and cylinder machined and came to the point where i need to position/mount the cylinder to the...

    Can this be repaired?

Just my observation, the gears are plastic for a reason, similar to the Myford tufnol gears, If something went wrong it is suppose to act as a fuse to prevent other parts from damage.
