Thanks again everyone for the compliments. My camera takes horrible video so no video yet. I am looking into getting a new camera and will post videos of all of them once I get it. It does run pretty well. I was even able to run it on breath power, although only for 5 to 10 seconds before...
Has anyone bought a chucking reamer set from http://www.cdcotools.com/? I am looking to buy a set and these seem to be the cheapest I could find. I am not expecting great quality, but are they OK for hobby use? If these are not worth buying I am looking for recommendations for a good value...
I have admired all your engines on here separately but I really like the picture of all of them together. Have you built any engines other than Elmer's engines? Do you really plan on making them all? I am currently on my fourth Elmer's engine and I plan to make at least five more of them.
OregonBill, Thank you very much for the compliment. I am very proud of this engine and am kind of shocked at how well it turned out. If you are looking to build a first engine I would definitely recommend one of Elmer's Engines found here http://www.john-tom.com/html/ElmersEngines.html. The...
This engine is on my list of engines I would like to make. Have you purchased the gears yet? When looking for them I was kind of surprised at how expensive they are. I think the internal gear is about $75. I am sure I will eventually buy them as this is such an interesting looking engine...
I have had the Harbor Freight 7x12 lathe and mini mill for about six months. I have no complains about either. The spindle guard broke on the lathe and the z axis stop broke on the mill, but neither would stop me from recommending these machines. I have not found the lathe too small yet but I...
Thank you. Some of your engines have stuck out to me when I first started thinking of trying some of my own, not only because of the excellent build quality but also for your videos documenting the builds. I very much enjoyed making my first three Elmer's engines. There are at least 5 more of...
Thanks for the compliment. It turned out much better than I expected. I only took a few pictures of some of the finished parts as I built them, no real build photos. I want to get a camera that I can keep out in the shop so that I can do a proper build thread on my next engine. I did not do...
Here is my finished Elmer's Grasshopper. It is my third engine after Elmer's Wobbler and Standby. I am very pleased with how it turned out. It runs well with my air pressure gauge barely coming off of zero.
When cutting small screws I tighten them into a tapped hole in a piece of metal the same thickness as the screw length I need. I cut them with a hacksaw and then file them flush to the piece of metal to clean up the end.
