I did not know Harbor Freight had a lathe that big. I will have to check that out.

I am in the same boat as you, I don't understand the plans or stuff is missing as you stated. M y trouble is in the same areas as you stated. If you come across easier to read (understand) plans, please forward a copy to me.....Steve

I have some prints I got from Dwight Giles, that I scanned to my hard drive. I would have to learn how to put it into a zip file to send to you. Putting it all on a usb would be easiest and mailing that to you?

Too bad it's the Black Hills weekend. I would have gone to Both but Black Hills is closer.

Thank you all for the replies, I will braze the quick change brackets but did order a gearbox cover and hand wheels from Grizzly as Pbilling13 said. These part will be very close, so maybe we'll get them to work, Grizzly's price's are fair enough to try it. Steve

The parts are all castings, very difficult to align and braze back together, the alignment is the hard part.

My son after moving into a new place was trying to install leveling bolts in his lathe, he tipped it over onto the control side. He's 200 miles away is why he tried it on his own. Does anyone know of a lathe that is being scrapped? HIs damaged lathe is a Rutland 1236 back gear belt lathe. 1987...

I don't know why a lot of these negative post bother me so much, I do not see a problem with how Jim did his thing. I am guessing that these negative folks don't catch there part with a hand when parting off or use emery paper on there part next to the chuck while its rotating.

I keep a vacuum next to the mill. That works great, never tried it on the Lathe, thought it would be more trouble than help.

If you can not set it up on parallels and let it hang over, a sacrificial plate or block under it will keep from cutting the rotary table.

We had a threading machine that was wired wrong and every six months when I would use it, it got me.

That machine is a Horizontal Boring Mill. That is a face plate on the head. Nice little machine you have there.
