Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley.

And to quote good old John Moore (Bogstandard, jeez I miss him) from the sticky at the top of the Tips & Tricks section - "For all of us who have a bit of experience and those who don't have as much, this topic is here to show people how we do things, there might be other ways, buts lets see...

Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley.

Really happy how quick and easy this method worked for giving that extra grip that can sometimes be needed on such small pulleys that are on model and toy steam engines and the accessories that can be run off them.

Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley.

That's a very good suggestion, blindingly obvious, but not thought of by myself. Thanks!

Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley.

Putting some grip (stippling) on an aluminium drive pulley. I've always wanted to work out a way to put some extra grip on a home made drive pulley to prevent or cut down on belt slippage. It would be nice to have the tooling that Wilesco use on their grooved pulleys. I had a Dremel saw...

    Gloves in a Bottle

You don't need much at all as it goes a long way, just be sure to rub it well into your cuticle area etc as it makes washing up to eat or at the end of the day so much easier. I put it on in the morning and then again after lunch if I'm doing a day in my shed. A few people have contacted me...

Barrier creams wash off, this doesn't wash off it 'wears' off like your skin does in microscopic flakes. I've used a lot of barrier creams over decades and none of them were effective, GIB for me has been terrific.

    Gloves in a Bottle

You may be a lucky soul and have never contracted contact dermatitis from all the different substances one uses in their metal working hobby. Nor suffer from cracked or dried skin from continuously washing ones hands when exiting your workshop. This product works terrific for paint, grease and...

Stuart S50 Mill Steam Engine with modifications to the plinth

That is so nice to read Jon, absolutely wonderful :) You must treasure being out in your shed with Josh teaching him all about his Adept lathe. I wish I'd had a lathe at that age!!!!! Imagine the thrill he'd have making a simple wobbler engine with you the first time it ran.

Stuart S50 Mill Steam Engine with modifications to the plinth

Stuart S50 Mill Steam Engine with modifications to the plinth running on live steam from a MSM 4" copper boiler. There was a lot of machining of parts and working out where everything was going to go and how it was all going to work. A lot of fun doing this.
