Model Engine Gas Tanks and Caps

Yea, it is 3/8" I believe. Since I don't yet cut threads, I thought that it would be a good solution and since I don't knurl yet, that is what I ended up with. I do have a tiny vent hole and it works pretty well, overall. Say hi to pa! :0

    Oh my...

My son wanted me print some crazy action figure for him and I knew it was a little risky so I debated putting new tape on the bed and setting the Z zero a bit tighter to the table, but no, "it will be fine". This is what was waiting for me this morning: Printing another now, I'll update on the...

    Upshur Vertical(s)

Makin' a mess...crazy how the volume of shavings is so much bigger than where they came from. Is was something like -20 deg F this morning so I thought I'd stay inside today and try to accomplish something in the garage.

    New Touch DRO

It is a kindle fire because I had one sitting around. Maybe I’ll upgrade to something a little bigger someday. It is easy to see, has lots of good features, and very responsive to xyz movements.

    TIM 6 ignition

Automotive ignition IGBT's are indeed the answer, easy to drive and hard to kill. Plenty of options out there. Did you just use the term ground? Common, chassis, ground, battery negative, or maybe even battery positive in certain situations. What is ground? An unlimited sinking source...

    Yet Another Webster Begins

Good job Bob! Seems to run fairly smoothly.

    Yet Another Webster Begins

The extra spark is a result of the ignition cam being driven from the crankshaft and closing/opening every revolution of the crank and nothing to worry about. So, if your exhaust valve is opening about 15 deg before BDC at the end of the power stoke and closing again around TDC before the...

    Yet Another Webster Begins

The factors that determine which direction the engine will run are the exhaust valve cam and ignition cam timing. Take out the spark plug and connect the ignition. Slowly turn the flywheel and think about what is happening vs what should be happening and when things are happening, through all 4...

    2021 just like 2020

Is one of your valves opening even the slightest amount? How tight are your pushrods/rockers? Maybe test the compression with the pushrods removed. Or is the valve timing off?

    Looks great!

    Yet Another Webster Begins

That seems reasonable...as long as your bottom pic shows the exhaust cam just starting to open AND that this pic is taken at the END of the POWER stroke (in other words, about a half of a turn of the flywheel after ignition TDC. That part is important.). IF that is the case, I would pull your...

    Yet Another Webster Begins

Plenty of good info for you to digest. Let me add to that. This engine is pretty forgiving, but we need to have things at least close to the correct timings. We need Suck-Squeeze-Bang-Blow, fuel and spark do help. This is my approach and other's mileage may vary but here goes. Let's start...

    Upshur Engine Plans

Hi, I kind of had the same confusion when I was looking around for the plans. I ended up ordering them from here: Payment Gateway - Rocketr The plans are for the version with a full crankcase, but one could build it easily enough as an open frame engine. I will probably be ordering the...

So many plans... / 4-stroke Cox

Very cool - I assumed it was an 049 but doing that to an 020 is even more of a challenge.
