Sold KEEPING - Complete and Clean Set of MODEL ENGINE BUILDER - Issues 1 through 27

I collected this set over time and haven't really looked at them for a while. These are all of the issues that were available in print, everything after is digital only. All issues are in great condition and complete with all drawings, and lots of great articles. I am thinking $175 plus...

For Everyone who doesn't have a lathe, a mill, a drill press---i.c. engine

That is awesome. And we thought Henry Ford’s was crude. I did actually cringe waiting to see some blood when he was cutting the rubber from the valve stems and when he was drilling through the head with his finger right under it. Not that I have learned those lessons a time or three.

    Wasted spark ignitions

It looks to me, from a little searching and this image, that there is not any drive circuitry built into that coil.

    Wasted spark ignitions

Regarding the ones in the pictures without the aluminum case, 12V is normally connected to the center pin which is shared with both of the internal coils. To fire one side, the corresponding pin is momentarily pulled to ground with points or a drive transistor and the coil fires between the two...

Harbor Freight / Rong Fu Improvements (HF #33686 Round Column)

I'm not sure when HF first sold these, but I think mine was from the early 2000's. I'll double check on that.

    The North Pole

OK - How one determines the polarity of a permanent magnet is by where the magnetic field lines run from/to. They run from the magnetic north to the magnetic south. And in Earth's case they run from the Antarctic end to the Arctic end of the Earth. I am now sold on the magnetic north being at...

    The North Pole

Rather than derail Ray's awesome Edwards 5 build thread, I figured I'd throw my off-topic comments here. As previously posted: "The earths north pole has a polarity of south that is why the compass needle that has a north polarity is attracted to it. I removed all the magnets and reinstalled...

What engine is this (HMEM Advertise with us) ?

I'm sure I've heard the name of this engine at some point, but it is not coming to me.

    Diy hydraulic shop press

I like it also. I have a bottle jack sitting there wondering about its purpose in life. Nice and compact.

Hey Festus, welcome. I also have a kitchen sink engine on my list to build, but a few others are currently in front of that one. I’m in the Fargo area, where are you ?

Hello from between Los Angeles and Disneyland...

Yea, for a guy who says: "Engineering didn’t agree with me, too much writing, not enough building things." :) Hi Paul, I believe I recognize your name from RC Groups - I've also been into RC and RC engines. I am down to a few of my favorites in my collection from TD.010's to a Rossi 60. I...

Harbor Freight / Rong Fu Improvements (HF #33686 Round Column)

I recently received an HMEM membership sticker in the mail and stuck it to the side of the pulley cover on my mill and was amazed at what an improvement it made. The thing does not clatter like it used to and it is so quiet and smooth, almost a mirror finish cut instead of looking sometimes...

    Today I went to buy a file---and---man---

My junior high shop teacher would chew us out if he thought we were filing on aluminum. Said with heavy German accent “Hey you boys, don’t be filin’ on that luminum. You better get a file kart.”

    2 GT belt calculator

I came up with ~465mm but don't hold me to that. (That was using 16mm and 55mm pulley diameters.)
