Great finish on the parts. Looks sharp! The ball joints are an outstanding touch and add a lot to the engine. Thm:

Everything you said here makes perfect sense to me. Sounds like you came up with an excellent solution.

A2Z CNC Quick Change Tool Post

After seeing the picture I have a question. Is that the orientation of the QCTP when you use it? Not sure if there is a "correct" way but I have mine rotated 90 degrees clockwise from that picture. That puts my facing tools to the far side of the tool post not the near side, if that makes sense.

    Some shop improvements

Valid question. I made a fitting on the bottom, attached some clear plastic line and ran it to a 5 gallon bucket. Take the bucket out and water the front yard every couple of days. ;D Had the same issue when I just had a little portable unit inside the shop with me.

Proposal to design a "First Build" engine

This is a specialized piece of equipment called a reverse lathe. Instead of making diameters smaller it makes them larger. :big:  List should say; 3/8" or turn down from 1/2". Bushing is 3/8ths, but it is not at all critical. Just about anything will work for the valve. Go 12L14 if you...

    Some shop improvements

Another small addition. Had several 2x4's left as well as OSP and some MDF. Never having enough flat space I added a work bench to fit the corner across from the lathe. Top is 18"x42" and it is 45" high. I wanted it at a height that I like to work without bending over. So now I have a place to...

    workshop music

We have a very diverse collection of music. With 3 sons now in their 30's that liked different styles we ended up with music that includes big band, 50's, 60's, 70's rock, country and western, punk (but not Oi!), some hip hop (but no gansta), ska, blues, jazz, folk, and some I can't think of...

Try taking the tool holder off, rotate the handle 180 degrees and then put the tool holder back on. My handle will work in two positions. If that is not it, unbolt and take the handle assembly off and see if it can go back on in the right position.

    Some shop improvements

Indeed the air conditioner can get the job done.... and quickly. I found it on Craigslist and was able to see it run before I bought it. Paid $130 bucks for it. Seems to work fine. Thm: I keep the house at 72 degrees and now when I go inside the house feels warm. :big: Trout; the outlets...

Webster engine running as hit and miss

May not be perfect but still awesome. Like watching the balls rise and fall with the RPM.

Trout; Edit; Found the issue. My bad. The link I got from Flickr was the thumbnail and not the actual photo. Fixed it.

    Some shop improvements

Made some improvements to the shop space. This all started when I bought an 18,000 BTU air conditioner pretty cheap. So, I HAD to have a wall to mount it on. Then things just went from there. Decided to enclose just my work space in the garage. About 90 sq ft for the mill, lathe, drill and...

Proposal to design a "First Build" engine

Jolijar; welcome to the forum. I think starting off with an engine running on air is a good start. Steam presents its own set of problems. Air is simple, clean and safe. The paint is truly what ever I have on hand. I use several high temp paints for automotive work like engine and brakes...

Zee; My wife and I have computers next to each other so I turned to her and had her watch your video. Sad to report to you that she said; "Oh how cute". Sorry man. Thought she knew better. :big:

    lubricants

This is NOT a correction or counter point. Just another opinion. Sometimes I want a light lube and if WD40 is the only thing handy I spray it into a small cup and let it set a day or two to let the solvents evaporate out and then use the light oil remaining. Not saying this is a good practice...

Very nice Zee!! There is just another level of cool about something that moves under its own power. I have yet to do that. Someday, maybe. For now seeing yours will have to do. Thm: BTW; My wife is also good about coming to look at my stuff. I have broken her of using the word 'cute' when...
