    Full size Cretors from castings

No hole in the flange end so finding / marking the center should be OK. I will post a picture of it tonight. I can take this over to my friend's Bridgeport mill if it is easier to do on a large mill.

    Full size Cretors from castings

I am off on a new adventure. Bit off a big chunk this time. Looking at a box full of parts and the first thing that strikes me is how different this is than anything else I have done. Up to this point I was feeling pretty comfortable thinking through a sequence of operations that will give...

    Can I sue

He has another listing for the plans. He has removed the photo in question. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beam-Steam-Engine-/320993699452?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4abcb7267c

Full sized Cretor's. Am I nuts?

Complete change of plans! Literally. Managed to get a set of castings and plans from Cole's for the full size Cretors. So I am going to build it from castings rather than bar stock. Still might be crazy. The parts are really big. The base is way to big for my X2. Right off I can...

    Can I sue

Seller does not have much feedback. One negative feedback that is within the last 6 months says in it; "These plans are available FREE on the internet..john-tom.com/" Still worth reporting.

    Building a crankshaft

Very nice work. WAY out of my skill / ability!

    ez engine

I have built a couple of Elmer's engines and love them. My only issue is that they are such small scale. Requires small taps (which I seem to break) and small hardware (which I have a hard time seeing). What ever you build, see if someone on this forum has posted pictures and information on...

The search for the perfict valve.

You might want to go read through Brian's build of the popcorn engine. He has plans, 3D model and a description of the build. It is a double acting horizontal and you can see how the valve / cylinder work. Link is here: http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/f31/brian-does-popcorn-15155/...

Full sized Cretor's. Am I nuts?

Been getting together a materials list that needs to be ordered and shipped. I have most materials available locally. One of the things I am looking at is cast flywheels. Like the looks of them and I don't really want to fabricate an 8" flywheel. Saw this one...

    Gear Cutters?

I have this book and find it pretty useful for understanding the basics; http://www.amazon.com/dp/0852429118/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Full sized Cretor's. Am I nuts?

Not sure I would attempt this without your plans and watching your build. It will be a challenge to scale it but it would be impossible to do it without anything to work from. BTW; love seeing the Atkinson run! I do have my "ace in the hole". My friend Danny is a professional machinist...

Full sized Cretor's. Am I nuts?

You may be right I may be crazy But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for. -Billy Joel

Full sized Cretor's. Am I nuts?

@Philjoe5 That looks like a good route to go. I can get DOM tubing in the wall thickness I need and reduce the amount of boring required. This may not be as difficult as I feared.

Full sized Cretor's. Am I nuts?

Been kicking this around for some time. Watched Brian and Stew build the 1/3 scale engines and loved the looks of them but think the full sized looked pretty good. Thought about using castings but get no email response from Myers or Coles. Looking over the plans Brian posted and scaling them...

    Storage on a budget.

Nice looking. Kind of necessity with small space to stack and go vertical. Helps keep some work space clear. Good job.

    EZ2 McCabe Runner revisited

A rework of the McCabe runner.? Reducing the number of parts.? Most of it is .75 inch square aluminum stock.? Can be built with only 4-40 screws.?? This takes very little materials and tools to build.
