    Diesel nozzles, EDM

Thank you for the wealth of replies. My thoughts on EDM is that it would allow for smaller holes then I can mechanically drill in to a hardened pintle style nozzle. If I make the nozzle out of free machining steel I could probably mechanically drill the jets but I want to make the nozzle out of...

    Diesel nozzles, EDM

Ah gotcha, I understand now thank you. I had pintle style injectors in mind, so the seal would be higher up. That's where my confusion came from. Looking around the web, the power supply for a home brew EDM is pretty basic. The tricky part is the hollow electrodes but hypodermic needles come...

    Diesel nozzles, EDM

I'm curious why lapping would be affected?

    Diesel nozzles, EDM

It wouldn't change the sealing, it would just replace the drilling technique for the nozzle holes. No change to the nozzle bore.

    Diesel nozzles, EDM

That's a design I've seen used on furnace nozzles. It works well for those.

Model Diesel: 32mm bore, 38mm stroke, indirect injection

I'll get you some Tollens' reagent so you can silver up a toaster oven window and feel nostalgic.

What material is your injector tip made from?

    Trackless Locomotive Build

That engine sounds delightful! Instead of BUYING an electric coal crusher, why not whip one up that can be belt or chain driven by the engine while stationary - the way old tractors used belts as their PTO to power stationary machines, like crushers! Great to hear the engine's song. 👍

    Diesel nozzles, EDM

Hi, Professionally the jets in a diesel injector nozzle may be drilled by EDM. It creates tiny holes with extra hard edges. I was wondering of forum diesel builders were only bit drilling jets or has anyone experimented with using a home brew EDM drill? If so, would anyone share plans for...

The tempered glass windows from toaster ovens also work great.

    High pressure pump

I've seen concrete pumps where the pump is fed by auger - so only ½ wrong 😁

    Shop Vac Mess

It's always better when your vac sucks rather then blows.

    High pressure pump

And wiki informs me that they even reach 400Bar(!) With hydraulic driven piston pumps. So probably a great place to start looking for designs.

    High pressure pump

I was looking for a hydraulic plunger pump video I had seen where they used a simple double detent kit on a spool valve. Each time the hydraulic cylinder got to the end of its stroke it hit the valve lever flipping it and reversing it's self. Couldn't find that but I found this beast. I wanna...

    High pressure pump

This one uses pistons, not plungers, and huge ball check valves.

    High pressure pump

I'm no expert but my guess is that for a mixed media slurry pump they probably use wear resistant valves like TPU or castable Urathane and something poppet styled so that the seal is flexible and wear resistant. I would also guess that valve sealing is not perfect but rather "good enough" while...

    High pressure pump

Commercially, very high pressure mud is often pumped with plunger (not piston, I explicitly mean plunger) pumps tied to hydraulic cylinders or air cylinders. A 4 valve double acting piston pump layout also exists but my limited knowledge is that those are only for bentonite slurry aka drilling...

Injected Diesel 56cc 2 Stroke, Will it ever work?"

That cylinder liner looks just like you stole it from a shipyard and shrink rayed it to size.

    High pressure pump

@Lloyd-ss has the highest pressure pump on this forum. Try messaging him, maybe. He has a failure point test set up that goes well above 400 Bar. Pretty sure it lacks "bomb mud" though...
