Well I have read the post and here is what I have done. First I have rebuilt lost of lathes with bronze bearings, the fix is simple and yet time consuming. cutting a longer taper

You can offset your tailstock and cut a long taper very easy, the only limit is the length of the bed of the machine. The other problem you will run into is being long and skinny you may get some chatter so you will have to play with speed and feeds and tool grind. Mike

    Bandsaw blade problem

Well the problem could be several things. First check the blade where it is welded together, when welding the blade the weld creates a bad spot and has to be ground out to create a tooth that has been filled with weld material, also check to see if the bladed is straight, if the ends are not...

So still today 50yrs latter I still warm up small taps prior to using...

    Interpreting Cutting Speed Tables

So I taught my students for years the following CS X 4 divided by diameter of material to be turned equaled RPM. This is a quick and easy method for them to use and it works well. CS (cutting speed) Example 80 x 4 = 320 divided by 2" diameter = 160 rpm. Simple great starting point then...

    8 Acme 1 1/8 left hand internal

When replacing the thread in the half nut you might run into a problem with the lead screw its self. On most lathes we use the section up close to the head stock the most. The most wear on lead screw will be on the head stock end of the screw which changes the pitch of the thread, so new...
