I found a PM25mv, full cnc with power draw bar around me. Price seems alright, I'm trying to decide if that's the route I want to go...

    endmill

Typically if you use an end mill to bore out a hole it will cut bigger than the end mill size, so even if you find the end mill you are looking for you may not be happy with your results.

    Measure internal taper

I would probably indicate the bottom if I were you. You can put the indicator on the bottom and then use the x axis to find the low point. You don't necessarily need a full inch of travel to figure this out. You could trynto move a half inch or .25". The only issue is .002 is already a small...

    Measure internal taper

When measuring make sure you are on centerline, you will get an inaccurate reading if you are off of center.

    Press fit dimensions?

An interesting debate going on. Although I can achieve the same precision at home as I can at work (to a certain extent) I find it much easier at work. Many hobbyists are using used equipment from schools or long closed job shops which sets you up at a disadvantage right off the bat. That's...

    Press fit dimensions?

    Haha well there you go.

    Press fit dimensions?

I'm sure if you looked in the machinery's handbook you'd find some press fit dimensions for different sizes, materials. That being said I think a rule of thumb for brass bushings is .0005 to .001" press per 1 inch of diameter.

I wish I was as close as you are to setting up my shop! Sounds like you'll have a good working area. I'm still struggling to decide what I want to do about a mill(s). We bought this property less than 2 years ago and I still have a lot of projects that need done to the house\ property. I'm...

    left hand drills

Ideally you'd use a left handed to drill the through hole, but we use a lot of grade 8 bolts at work and you end up burning up hss bits if you try to drill a through hole with one. So If the bolt doesn't spin out with a left handed center drill I'll switch to a carbide drill to do the through...

    left hand drills

They work pretty well for removing broke bolts. Drill a hole in your bolt, put a left handed drill a couple sizes bigger in, and push hard. Hopefully it catches and breaks the bolt loose.

What software are you using for CAD? I've been using fusion at home but it doesn't seem built for 2d architecture.

    Band saws

That's a pretty good idea, cheap and easy

I'm sure I'll have a cad drawing in the long run. For now the free time I have to lay this out is too far away from a pc with cad on it. So hand drawn it is for now.

If I get a bridgeport it will be bolted to the floor. So I know for sure that I'll have this shop planned out for months, and I'll think of everything I need to, and then when I drill the holes in the new concrete floor I'll have to move it somewhere else lol.

My mother in law's bedroom is right above the shop. She's hard of hearing though, so I can get some pretty loud chattering on my end mills before I have to worry about waking her lol.

    Band saws

I don't want to replace the cutoff tool with the porta saw. I was just thinking it would add an extra option that I wouldn't otherwise have. Especially on my baby taig lathe where slow rpms are umm... hard to come by... therefore making parting larger stock a night to remember. At work I've...

    Band saws

Honestly your mention of cutting things off in the lathe has made me reconsider. That would be really nice, and it's also easier to store\ less floor space being used.

Here's another option that has some small tweaks. It gives me 8 foot of open wall for expanding in the future.
