    Edgar T Westbury Seal 15cc

I don't think Westbury ever built the 15cc Seal himself. Certainly the numerous erors in the 1947 drawngs have never corrected, to this day. The 0.125" diameter woodfuf key is an absurd idea. Instead, I drilled the shaft and fitted a 2.0 mm pin instead of that impossible woodfuf key. You will...

    Ford 300 Inline Six

Thanks Doug, The 'Cerakote' name must be politically correct, as opposed to 'Gun**** ' and is readily available in the UK from their distribute, Cerakote UK Ltd. They offer small 118 ml (4 oz ) tester size jars. Mike

    Ford 300 Inline Six

"Gun Kote" always shows as 'currently unavailable' in the UK. Our over-strict gun laws make it difficult for us to buy any firearm related materials. They probably think that someone buying "Gun **** " is about to go on a terrorist shooting/ killing spree. If they renamed it "Metal Kote" or...

A new attempt at making piston rings

Well done Brian, You got the result you wanted, despite the stream of rude and offensive comments from one particular person on this and other forums Mike

A new attempt at making piston rings

Brian, You appear to have drawn the ring as some sort of oval. The expanded ring will be a circle whose diameter will be the circumference of 1.006" plus the distance across the dowel (diameter). Mike

    Ford 300 Inline Six

Terry, Thanks for the thorough explanation. I had an idea of downloading an older SC-7 version for the same reason as you. My requirements are 2D CAM, 32 bit machine and imperial units. So SC-7 appears to tick most of those boxes. What 2D drawing formats will it accept .DWG, .DXF ?. Fractional...

    Ford 300 Inline Six

Terry, You seem happy with your Russian, Sprutcam Ver 7 software. We know there are newer versions available, but if SC-7 does everything you want it to do and can do it on an old 32 bit PC, so why change? I am looking for a better 2D CAM software program than the ones I currently use. Will...

Terry, More gorgeous high precision work for us to admire. Well done. Quote: "Measurements show the hole had wondered off vertical with a .001" error on one axis and a .005" error on the other. I could probably have lived with the .005" error but, since the workpiece was oversize, it was...

    Whaaaat? Could it be?

I thought you said you wanted a VFD to avoid having to change belts. Now you are talking about belt swapping and a VFD for thread cutting to overcome the problems associated with keeping the single phase motor. Why not do the job properly and fit a three phase motor controlled by the VFD.?

So what flavor of Linux do you use? Is the Debian version they use for LinuxCNC adequate for FreeCAD? Mike

    270 Offy

Ken, Sometimes, counting teeth and hole spacing, from old photos, is the only way to unravel the detail. I work it out slightly differently to you. A 64 tooth gear has 5.625* between teeth. The 64T gear can be fitted in any one of 19 angular positions. So 5.625* divided by 19 = 0.2961*. Now that...

    270 Offy

Terry My interest in the Offy vernier adjustment relates to my 1/3 scale Mercedes Benz W165 engine. It also has vernier adjustment for it's four camshafts. The only design information I have is from these two archive photos. The W165 appears to have 19 holes in both the cam flange and cam gear...

    270 Offy

Are the four holes angular positions something like 0*, 105* 190* 275* (5 degree increments) Mike

    270 Offy

In the bottom centre drawing (position n ) there appear to be a set of eight holes and a second set of four holes. Only one of the four holes lines up with the eight. Are the eight holes equi spaced = 45* ? What is the position angles for the four holes? Thanks Mike

    270 Offy

Is it possible to publish a drawing showing the angular relationship of all the holes in the cam gear and camshaft? Thanks Mike
